. f
I
Cape Cod Commission has done some modeling on what the actual infiltration
area into these wells is as opposed to the Zone II, which is the large scope. The
entire area, it is fair.to say, that Everything that goes into the ground here i going
to b sucked into those wells. As to the fact that it is going to be piped in, that is
correct. All the residential development is going to be piped off into the sewerage
treatment plant and of course New Seabury makes a big deal of this.
Mr. Santos interrupted him and stated that he agreed with him in regards to the
fertilizers and the whole nine yards.
Mr. Hendry continued by stating that the water district has had a lot of
experience with pipes. They have miles ofthem. 'There is one thing they know
about pipes and that is that pipes leak. It is reasonable to expect that just like
water main has a certain percentage of leakage that a sewer main is also going to
have a certain amount of leakage. They fully expect it. There is no proposal here
to double sleeve thein, although they have requested it ofthem. They fully expect
that there will be some level of leakage. what he is driving at is this. 'These two
cells are better than half of the town's public water supply. His board based upon
information not only from it's own staff but also from engineers that they have
hired to technically review these reports. Fully believes that either as the result of
construction related impacts, you can imagine the amount of heavy equipment
that is going to be here with earth moving machinery, trucks pouring foundation
r as the results of the impact ofstorm water infiltration over the process oftime.
The fifteen acres of parking and all ofthe run-off tht his going to coxae from that
being direct at these wells.
Mr. Ball asked if they were concerned about nitrogen.
Ir. Doherty responded by stating that it included salts, oils and all kinds of nasty
stuff.
Mr. Ball continued by asking if the main concerns would be the parking lots and
the driving ranges, Correct?
Mr. Santos stated that the pesticides and other types of material.
Mr. Henchy replied that it was parking lots, driveways, roof run-offs, construction
related impacts, etc.
Mr. Ball asked what the life of the wealth would be. How brig had it been there?
Ir. Henchy replied that it is his understanding that those wells have been there
over 20 years. They are the-originals.... company wells. Those are the two best
cells that the town has at this point in time.
Mr. Ball continued that it was his understanding that there was another well
head site that was behind Holland Mills that was a proposed site.
Henchy replied that he wishes that they did have that as a well site.
