F T
(Ms. Grady requested an updated cop] of the monthly report regarding
the account balance of the board of health budget. It was agreed that FIs.
Grady would get her copy of the monthly report.
13. FYI -Flu clinic Schedule
Mr. Harrington began by stating that the flu clinics would be held on
Friday, October 18, 2002 and Wednesday, November 6, 20002, at the
Christ the King Parish Hall from 9:00 to 12:00. He continued by stating
that in total they might get the first allotment even later than October
18th, 2002, so they would have to postpone that original date. They
calculated that they are only going to end up with 100 shots in the first
round. They are only going to be getting 20% of the 19% of the original. It
only ends up being about 100 shots after the shots are all drawn. They
weren't sure that it was worth having the VNA hold the date. The health
agents have discussed the option of dispersing the vaccines to the
medical doctors that are in the immunization program. Right now it
states that the vaccines have to go to the "class one" people. This group
is rade up of 65 years of age and older or young children with chronic
diseases. if that is the amount they are going to go to a further extent to
male sure that the people who are 65 and older or have some chronic
disease. He felt that at this point it should go to the doctors and let there
sort it out to prove that they have a chronic disease versus us requesting
a letter from the doctor stating that they have chronic disease. They are
going to go to their doctors anyways. They are going to drag the VNA out
for 100 shots?
IVIS. Grady stated than these.people are going.to have to pay to go to-their
doctor.
Ms. Warden asked if she could just say one more thing on behalf of Mr,
Harrington's position in this matter. she stated that they were never so
insulted and sworn at from the seniors who didn't get the shots. They
went to that clinic to try to put some organization into it. They didn't
have enough shots, The seniors where there at 7:00 AM in the.morning,
The program did start until 10:00 AM. They had nothing left by 10:30 AME
They were sworn at and she couldn't believe what people were saying to
them..
Ms. Carron stated that they called by the dozens and complained as well
in the same manner.
Mr. Darrington added that they were providing a free service. They could
tell the doctors that they can't charge for the shot.
Ms. Grady stated that the shot will be free but they will be charged for an
appointment.
24
r
