across the street.
Mr. Ball stated that they couldn't go across the street because it was
town owned. They would have to Dunkin' Donuts.
Ms. Grady stated that they could go in their oars.
Mr. Greene stated that the car would be on tern grounds.
Ms. Grady stated that that was what they did at the high school. She
knew that it was illegal. However, she has never seen anybody do
anything to prohibit people from smoking in their cars..
Mr. Greene continued by starting that he could understand the ball field
restrictions where there are children present. However,, they have town
employees that smoke. There could be situations that would develop that
mould cause distress within the workplace. He did not believe that the
town would allow employees to take a drive for a cigarette.
Mr. Ball stated that they shouldn't be smoking anyways.
Mr. Greene agreed with him. However, it was a legal right of all adults in
the United States, Now if they were banning cigarettes he would say that
that is a correct approach.
Mr. Ball stated that it is a legal right. But, they just took it away from the
bars and everywhere else. Why would they make this exclusion for town
-employees
Mr. Greene countered that they were tacking it away from an open-air
area.
Mr. Ball didn't feel that that caused it to be much of a distinction. Why
should they single out one small group? If they were going to do it they
should do it all? That would be the next step. They would barn the sale of
cigarettes,
Mr. Santos stated that he wanted to continue. He didn't agree with the
ban on the town property. He agreed with the ball fields and the schools
and anything around them. It was basically a state law anywars*
Anything within the town buildings should be barn as it is a public plarcev
building and structure. How far away from the door should be delineated.
He didn"t feel that people should have to walk through the second hard
smoke at the entrances. But, as far as on the property itself,, he had no
problem.
7
