L
f
there is no real good reliable data of the location of the existing wellso
Some of the town records conflict with what the owners"rs" say and Scannell
well drilling information. For example, the torn record house number 11
indicates that the well was in the back area of the lot. Scannell confirmed
that too. Mr. Scannell had also told hire that well for house numberl 1
was in the back left of the lot. But, the town records say that it is in the
back right of number 'I 10. Town records for house nurn ber 1states than
the well is in front. But, the owner states that the well is in the back left
corner. Basically what it cones down to is where the heck they are. The
only real reasonable place to put the leaching system is in back left
corner of the property. He has checked with the water department. Town
water is going to be corning down old Great Deck Toad. He wanted to
make a recommendation that they pump the system until the hook-up to
_i town water, They should also make it mandatory that all of the abutters
are hooked up to town water. They tools a water sample at I 10 old Great
Deck Road to determine if there were any contaninantst They have not
seen the results yeti
Ms. Carron noted that they had not received the results yet.
Mr. (McEntee noted that the cesspool at number 'I 1shows-the well to be
down gradient at 301. There was a good likelihood that there was some
contamination going on there.
+
Mr, Ball asked for confirmation of which house he was referring to.
Mr, McEntee showed Mr., Ball that the hydraulic reading was in this
direction with the wells only 309 away.
Mr. Harrington noted that Ockway Bay was to the east, which is across
Great Neck Load.
}x•t
r
Ms. Warden felt that the failure was an absolute mess. That particular
t
area is loaded with low-lying wetlands. The existing cesspool was
overflowing onto the ground surface. The applicants have their mother
living there. They were going through the septic repair program. They
bought the home for a dollar from their mother. The property is in a
shambles, There are the groundwanter, wetland and well issues, she felt
that Mr, McEntee had pretty much Clone the best he could to maintain the
system in this area, The only alternative that the board would have, in her
opinion, would be to condemn the house. There is just no place to put the
system to maintain any greater distance. It is just near impossible*
Mr, Harrington added that re-locating the wells didn't really help either _
because it was just added expense that was going to be thrown to the
"777.
w
