F
had sent him a letter stating that they had removed four dogs to Hyannis.
Mr. Santos asked if they are up to the compliance now.
Ms. Grady responded that that probably wasn't the case if they still had
five adult dogs with the puppies.
ls, harden noted that they should only have one dog left. Three had been
shipped to Hyannis,
Mr. Harrington noted that they had shipped three to Harwich and then
they were returned. The police went to make an actual arrest for
something else in Harwich and found the dogs. They contacted the animal
control officer there who advised the homeowner that they were not a
legal kennel. This brought them back to Mashpee, one thing that they
didn't do before was to require them to get a license. The argument was
that because of the Title V issues it was really not worth it to get a kennel
license. Title V didn't allow them to have the kennel. The zoning did not
allow it either according to Mr. 1 h eler. He wanted to bring the board up
to date and ask for their recommendations in regards to the enforcement
of this violation.
Mr. Santos stated that Mr. Bateman, the owner/father, was in here at the
last meeting taking the heat on the whole situation. They only filed one
violation. They let there off the hook without a fine or any other form of
punishment. They were now in violation again* Mr, Santos felt that a
$300.00 fine would be appropriate.
Ills. Warden asked if this was going to be a one time fine or per day.
Mr. Santos felt that it should be just a one $300.00 fine. If there were
further violations there would be a $300,00 per day fine. He felt that they
were not clear on the full ramifications of the situation.
Mr. Darrington interrupted Mrs Santos and stated that Mr. Bateman was
well aware of the full ramifications of the situation.
Mr. Santos asked Ms. Grady felt that this was appropriates
Ills. Grady was in complete agreement with Mr. Santos recommendation.
Ms. Warden stated that they would send the letter with the $300.00 fine
with a date for a further inspection: If they were in further violation...
Mr. Harrington interrupted Ms, Warden and felt that they didn't need to tell
6
