Ms. Grady asked if there.was anymore public comment.
Mr. Jack Manoli current manager of iovanni's-Restaurant discussed how
the lowering the number of seats would destroy then. They lease the
property in goodwill and he pays the rent with goodwill.ill. If the system
needed to be upgraded it was the landlord's job to upgrade the system, It
might not be the right way to look at, but, they wanted a system out of
there for the grease traps and they gage it to there. He didn't think it was
fair to look to the restaurants for this change. They made their predictions
on ghat they have when they signed these long-terra leases. For them to
o backwards on their leases is like taking all of their hard work and
throwing it away. He really didn't think that they should expect or ask
therm to do that. They serious citiz en and hard workers for this area. He
appreciated the board looking into the matter for them.-
Mr.
h rm.-Mr. Charles Hajjar, Hajjar management spoke next, He stated' that he felt
badly for the restaurants. Especially for Michelle because she only used
the outdoor seating only on the weekends. When he was there a few
weekends ago it wasbeautiful day and stip nobody was outside* it was
a shame but he guess those are the laws, Mr. McGrath had explored every
avenue he could. Their actual water consumption was only 3900 GPDO
1
That could be verified at the water department in l ashpee. That was
avenue that they explored. Unfortunately, what they are telling them is
that any increase in flow from that magical date back in 1995 was done
improperly and these restaurants needed to be roiled back to these
amounts. Back to Michael's Restaurant, just two years ago they had
approval for 60 seats. They it was 67 and noir it was 70 something, just
within three-years. It just seems like there was no rhyme or reason to how
this was happening. It was putting them in ar fog. They also making if
seem-like the loss of rent and whatever. The long-term leases that they
have are a very, very lover amount. There was just no bottom to every new
restaurant that was there. He just wanted to make that statement
because if the board thought they were getting rich off of these
restaurants. He thought that the rents were in the two to three thousand
dollars a month range. The operating costs were so high that it just didn't
justify it. He did feel for therm, if the board would go along with the
original amounts and'they wanted to mount a challenge to the DEP* They
could get going with the denitrification to approve those amounts* They
could go back to the DEP, hire and attorney or use Attorney Dalton,
whatever they decide to do to fight the DEP to get more seats approved.
They would have more traffic corning in on a Saturday right and they
could feed off each other. The last thing he wanted to do was limit seats
to everyone. He thanked the board.
1
