Y
5
They would prefer not to disrupt the entire activity and operation of the
complex during the season with the substantial construction that this will
require for.the installation of the system, Typically the last busy time
would be around Thanksgiving. As Mr. Ryther had recommended the
denitrification component commence sometime after the Thanksgiving
Holiday the end of November. The new system relative to the office would
commence sometime in the early part of the spring so that everything
would be pretty much completed by the time the next season was upon
them.
Mr. Harrington stated that there was an old Title V plan that stated that
the expansion pits and the varve were not required once the motel was
operating more than 26-weeks per year, He thought the board was saying
that if the motel'operated more than six months they would have to put in
the other pits with the buil run valve. That was the requirement for the
commercial properties. He thought they gave therm a variance from that
because they were only seasonal.
Mr. Bali asked what year that was,
Mr. Darrington responded that it was 1983.
Mr, Ball asked if this concerned the flow or concern over a denitrificati n
system.
Mr. Darrington clarified that it concerned leaving the expansion pits as un-
built reserve areas rather than constructed at the same time as primaries*
They had granted that variance before at the santult inn. When they did
their complete upgrade the board allowed them to put in the primaries
because the effluent was going to be of a much higher quality. It should
last longer now. Therefore, the board allowed therm that variance,$ They
didn't have to put in the reserve area at the same time as the primary,, In
essence they were doing the same thing to even allow this as a year
round basis. Again he did know if this was clone by a variance or done b
the BOHm It was put on the plan. The board could certainly approve this
plan as presented.
Mr. l yther asked if that was the plan done for the current upgrade.
Mr. Harrington confirmed that that was correct,
Mr. Ryther asked if the note was put on the engineer.
Mr. Harrington confirmed that Baxter and Nye put it on the pram.
2
