raise them. One feeds off of the other and he felt that 'IG" was covered by
• "A" and it should used or taken out.
Mr. Monteiro had a question. Let's say that I come onto your property to
do an inspection and you just spent $8,000.00 to put in a lawn. He tells
Mr. Ball, for example, that he would have to bring in a backhoe to tear up
your lawn. By the way the sprinkler system was going to be destroyed.
Here was a way he could put a camera down through the distribution box
into the leaching pit. He felt that that would probably less intrusive as per
Title V originally wrote than bringing in the bobcats and backhoes to tear
up the lawn and irrigation systems. With the camera you could determine
several things. You could see staining on the sidewalls and you could also
get the depth to the water that was inside of it. There are counters on
most cameras as you slide it down the counter tells you are at six or four
feet from the point of the pipe or whatever. He would have to agree with
Mr. Ball. If you take out "G" he felt that it wasn't a very good part of the
regulation.
Mr. Ball asked Mr. Graci if he used a camera too.
Mr. Graci felt that he should be able to use it to go into the outlet end of
the septic tank in order to inspect the D-box. He could still open up the pit
• if it was in a different part of the yard. He was saving one less hole to dig
in somebody's $8,000.00 lawn. That would be great. But, Mr. Harrington's
whole point was that he wanted the whole system to be brought to grade.
So to video inspect the D-box he was not raising it. That was Mr.
Harrington's issue and Mr. Santos' issues.
Mr. Ball felt that they would still have to raise it regardless whether they
use a video camera or not. He was going to have to open it up anyways.
Mr. Graci stated that what they were trying to get at was that the D-box
wasn't going to tell you everything all of the time. But, if they opened up
the pit they could video inspect the D-box, septic tank and pit. It would
leave one less hole to dig up in somebody's yard.
Mr. Ball stated that they would still have to raise the pit.
Mr. Graci agreed. If the D-box was six feet or more they would have to
raise it according to Title V. It was a winless situation here. You are stuck
with raising all of the covers and no matter what the video camera was
out. He didn't know how much he paid for the camera. But, he paid
$6,000.00 for the camera.
Mr. Ball re-iterated that he was not in favor of taking away a tool of the
• trade.
19
