r '
themselves were not that expensive. They, could work the disposal costs into the
costs of the containers.
Mr. Santos felt that people would bring them in a variety of containers.
Mr. Harrington stated that they were not going to be accepted period. They would be
turned away. Ms. Laurent and he had discussed the labeling and cataloguing the
containers as they sell them so they could monitor them as they cone in. The reason.
why they were doing that was that when they have the hazardous waste days. They
would not accept syringes from out of town. They would label each of the containers
,used so that they could track them corning back in.
Ms. Grady felt that they should open this discussion up to the other towns. It night
end up being a bit sticky otherwise.
Mr. Harrington stated that he had discussed this with IVIS. Laurent, too. She was
involved in hazardous waste days through the DPW. Sandwich does their rough stuff
with CRT's. Each of the town's has-their own protocols. If they liked the program
they could do it too. But, they were not going to take'the tine'to work with other
tons. He took the time with Barnstable and nothing happened. He waited for his
old boss to coo something and nothing happened.
Mr. Santos felt that there wasn't enough money.
Mr. Harrington stated that itwasn't a matter of money. It was a lack of effort. It
wasn't going to take that much money. They didn't have to go out for bids. They just
had to request quotes. The reason they were looking at hazardous waste days was
because no one had to store anything. Everything was brought one day. The
contractor carne at the end of the day and it was gone. Nothing was stored. If the
DPW or somebody was willing to talo responsibility or at least guarding a locked
box. That was really all that was required. Franklin county put together a program
that involved storage. They did it through the fire departments. Dight now the fire
department wasn't willing to baby-sit a locked box. But, they were corning closure
to having more options.
Being no further business, Mr. Santos made a notion to adjourn the meeting at 8:30
PM. IVH Grady seconded the motion. Motion passed.
Respectfully submitte by,
Charlotte .' i is ative Secretary
14
Y
