Flu Clinics: <br /> Mr. Harrington updated the board regarding the flu vaccine. They were going to be <br /> receiving flu vaccine from' the state. They got a call and the numbers. They were <br /> also going to be getting support from the VTA. The VNA purchased a sizeable <br /> amount more than they were getting from the state. They opened the November ember 1 `h, <br /> 2004, date back up with Christ the King. They would be doing a flu clinic for the <br /> high-risk population as specified by the Commissioner of the DPH, which at this <br /> point was 75 years and above, chronic illnesses. The pediatricians would be getting_ . <br /> their allotments so that they could take care of their high risk for children. They <br /> would be having the flu clinic. They had already picked up the pneumonia vaccine <br /> and they would be holding It on the 29 They would he doing sorra at the same <br /> time just so people wouldn't have to come out of the house twice. He had to wort <br /> that out with the VNA. He was also trying to work in the Hepatitis A clinic. He was <br /> going to try to do it at once while they had everybody coming and thinking about it. <br /> It was a series of two shots. He was trying to work in the restaurants too. <br /> Ms. Grady asked what the time frame was for completion of the series for the <br /> Hepatitis A vaccine. <br /> Mr. Harrington thought that it was one month. The state was having such a problem <br /> with Hepatitis A,with the food handlers. It wasn't so much a problem on the Cape, , <br /> but on other parts of the state. Like rabies it would wort it's way here he was sure. <br /> The state was saying that they will supply the vaccine for high risk such as illicit <br /> drug users, homeless and that type of population was what they were shooting for. <br /> They said that they would supply vaccinations for that group. They had a meeting <br /> coning up on November 1't, 2004, with the state. He wasgoing to try to tally them <br /> into having them cover the restaurants too. t this point it would probably be a <br /> $20.00 or $25.000 fee for Hepatitis A shots, He hadn't approached the restaurants t <br /> do that yet. He planned on sending them the notice to,do that.
