received a letter from town counsel. The b ard'wi ll very-often will make exception
and work with people as much as possible. If we don't know ghat is going on they
could be ofhelp. It was very difficult for her hearing things on the phone trying t
decide whether or not to revoke somebody's license. Especially with Ms. Wardens
saying that it Could put you out ofbusiness. But, regulations, public health, all of that
has to be the priority for them. She felt that it was really bad judgment -on their part in
hover things were handled. But, it was also a learning experience for them too. She dict
not have a problem with re-instating their permit as long as everything was up t
snuff financially.
Mr. Harrington interrupted the conversation and recommended that they raise the
bond amount. The 1,000.00 bond amount didn't go very.far when they end up at
$4,000.00. The bond in number two in the regulation can be up t $10,000.00 and be
t the board's disposal. It was however they wanted to do that up t $10,000.00. They
,weren't lust thinking about doing this to these folks here but across the board. In
consideration of the fees and the volumes that they were dealing with the $1,000.00
bond dict not go very far, as far as having any other leverage with any of the haulers -
n t just these guys. He fit that they should keep in mind that the b o and had the power
to do that.
Ms. Grady asked if anyone wanted to make a motion.
Mr. Santos stated that it stated in their regulation that any violation of any ofthese
regulations, which was right under number two required revocation and suspension.
He was initially thinking that they should have a six-month suspension. But, he would
settle for a three-month suspension. As he had stated before, he felt that it was
flagrant disregard of the regulation. If they were going to be in the business they
needed to know what the regulations were.
Mr. Ball felt that they could go back and forth all night. He was going to make a
motion not to suspend or revoke their license to pick-up trash in 1 la hpe , But, they
were going to add to the notion that the bond be raised to $4,000.00. All their bonds
and applications needed to be on bine. If they were late-for any reason they would
suspend their license for at least -days or further. Ms. Grady seconded the motion.
Motion approved. Mr. Santos opposed the motion.
Mr. Ball made another notion to issued the 2005 trash haulers license provided that
the bond was received in the office, current past due balances were paid in full and no
bounced checks. Ms. Grady seconded the motion. Motion passed.
Ms. Grady recommended that they get in touch with Ms. Mason to discuss their
contract with the ton.
12
