Town of Mashpee <br /> Historic District Commission <br /> Minutes of Meeting <br /> December 2, 2009 <br /> Roll Call; <br /> 'resent: Chairman Lee Gurney, Wayne Picard, dile Robbins, Earl Mills, Marian Spencer <br /> Absent- Joe Mullin <br /> Also Present; Town Planner Tony Fudala <br /> The meeting was called to order by Chairman Gurney at :o M. <br /> Minutes: <br /> : <br /> Mr. Robbins made a motion to approve the minutes of May 20,2009. Motion seconded by Mr. <br /> Mills. All voted unanimously. <br /> Public Hearing: <br /> Certificate of ApproiDriateness <br /> Applicant: P entecostal Church <br /> Location: 2 5 8 Main Street(Assessors' Map 3 7, Bloch 9) <br /> Request, Install -vinyl siding <br /> 1r. Fudala stated that no plans or descriptions of materials were included with the application. In <br /> addition, the non-residential application fee of$too was not submitted but Mr. Fudala suggested that <br /> the Commission could make e motion to waive the required fee should the applicant make the request. <br /> Mr. Mills made a motion to eliminate the non-residential application fee. Motion seconded by <br /> 1r. Robbins. All;voted unanimously* <br /> Contractors spoken behalf of members o Pentecostal enteco tal Church t inquire about the Commission"s <br /> recommendations regarding the appropriate type of siding to install. �&. Fudala stated that the <br /> application proposed Cape Cod gray cedar Discoverer vinyl for the front facing wahs-and the back and <br /> sides would feature white vinyl clapboard siding. All facia and softs would be with white vent and <br /> metal and 1/ inch insulation board would be Mnstalled throughout. All rotted boards would be replaced <br /> with new boards. <br /> The contractor stated the church's preference to use white siding and noted that they were seeking <br /> feedback from the Commission regarding color choice. Mr. Robbins asked the size being used t <br /> which the contractor stated the preference to use 5 inch since it would look better. Currently, the <br /> building is covered in T 141 `Texture"vertu groove siding)which is rotting and deteriorating. <br /> Some stucco also appears on the building. <br /> Chairman Gurney explained the obligations of the Historic District Commission as adhering to the <br /> guidelines that are based on standards of historic preservation that preserve, restore, rehabilitate or re- <br /> cre te. pp lications are evaluated based on the standards set. The Chairman further stated that the <br /> building must be evaluated to determine its significance to the Historic District, which indeed 'it is. <br /> The Chair quoted the Massachusetts Historical Commission and their standard regarding artificial <br />
