MAS EE HISTORICAL SI M
REGULAR MONTHLY MEETING
WEDNESDAY, MAY 15, 1996
I RESIT: J, Ferragamo
F. Hicks
A. Whitlow
II
MINUTES of PREVIOUS MEETING:
The minutes of March 22, 1996 and April 1 1996 were accepted as presented.
III
REPORTS:
Computer Update: Ann Whitlow reported that she has now become confused.
She has seen ads at Lecbmere and for Staples. She stated it was going
to be in our favor that prices appear to be going down. She wants to
go
into Staples and discuss what kind of package was being offered. She does
not know whether we want to go into servicing, or what we want to do when
e get the computer. They seem to have exact packages that we have been
getting bids for from three other companies.
Axon had discussed the possibility of getting a computer through the small
cities grant, and apparently that would be impossible.
Ann had talked to Dr. DeMoura, and hopefully, he might be able to help the
Historical Commission. Re wants to get the neer school open first, but in
doing s , If we open up our reference books and our expertise here to students
for research, he doesn't see any reason why we cannot have a computer hook-
up to the -school even though it would be the property of the Board of Educa-
tion.
Joanne suggested that we should consider our options: Willow Bend: we can
write theg rant for the computer and focus on the fact that students would
be usingit for research in the high school.. or the Mass. cultural Council;
the Kelly Foundation. I think we should put all our resources together and
see what we can apply for once we decide what kind of package we want.
Ann suggested that weshould consider a scanner as part of the package since
we have all of these photographs.
Woods' photographs:ds' hoto r hs: .Joanne reported that she did not know 'what had happened
to them. She does have copies. ,Joanne has not talked to Rosemary Burns,
What we do have, we will leave out for the open house. I don't have an up-
date on the photograph situation.
IV OLD BUSINESS:
orientation Guide: .Joanne reported that the Orientation Guide had been com-
pleted. ,Joanne passed out copies to the meeting.
