Wendell Banks was a sophomore in I ashp ee High School , <br /> n artist who wore the 102nd contest , and has all kinds of recog- <br /> nition. He thought the historical commission would like this <br /> for our archives , <br /> Phillip Choate had sent in a request to be appointed to the <br /> iashpee Historical Commission . The historical commission for- <br /> warded it to the board of selectmen . The board - returned the <br /> request for the historical comm-fission' s recommendation* <br /> Gordon made a emotion that Phillip Choate be recommended to join <br /> the hist.oric l commission, Motion seconded,. All .in favor . So <br /> moved . <br /> Joanne stated that , as a commission member , our major commit- <br /> ment was to attend commission meetings . Joanne felt that we <br /> had been very lax wont that . It is very difficult when some <br /> members show up and we do not have a quorum, and therefore , we <br /> cannot conduct a meeting . <br /> If a commission member cannot attend the Monday meeting, we <br /> should have a rule that the commission member call in the Friday <br /> before, or we' begin to establish some more definitive procedures , <br /> such as , if the member is absent without just cause Brom three <br /> successive meetings., then the member step down as a member . <br /> Enclosed is a copy of the Mashpee By-law relative to attendance <br /> at board meetings . <br /> VI OTHER BUSINESS : <br /> Joanne explained that they had approached Trish . alinooey (Clara ' <br /> daughter) , . thinkling that they would have an exhibit .in September . <br /> Joanne .sug.gested that they wait and see how Trish feels before <br /> they make any f final plans. <br /> STII ADJOURNMENT <br /> Meeting adjourned at 10: 10 a . m. r. <br /> The historical commission will continue to meat once a month at. <br /> 9: 30 a. m. , the second Monday of the month. <br /> NEXT MEETING: MONDAY , AUGUST 179 1998P 9 : 30 A.
