M ' <br /> Historical Commission <br /> 11/2/00 <br /> PAGE THREE <br /> IV OLD BUSINESS : (_Con t inued <br /> Naming e'remony for Frank Hicks : Ann stated that she was <br /> pleased to announce that on Saturday, November 18th, at <br /> 10 : 00a . m. at the Boys and Girls Club; the selectmen <br /> have planned a ceremony for Frank E. Hicks , and will name <br /> the Job ' s Extension, or 151 in front of the Police and <br /> Fire Departments , and, the Boys and Girls Club � Frank E. <br /> Hicks Drive. The invitations will be going out very- soon. <br /> The Selectmen ' s Office is pl.arining a party for Tran . Ann <br /> is preparing the program and an exhibit of Frank and his <br /> family, and his service to the Town. <br /> l <br /> Bob whr t hour will offer a few openin.g remarks relative <br /> to Frank' s service to. the Torn. David Leveille Selectmen <br /> Chair will also say a few o-rd . <br /> Jim Moroney requested that he would like the record to re- <br /> flect that , regrettably, he will be unable to attend the <br /> ceremony-. <br /> V NEW BUSINESS <br /> 1 . Ann stated that she was also interested in purchasing a tape <br /> recorder in order to increase their oral history - file. <br /> 2 . The Tribal. Council have had certain documents copied at Torn <br /> Hall . They have requested extensive copies of records and <br /> materials . Ann requested that the historical commission <br /> allow copies made , but they must be copied on site under <br /> supervision. <br /> . Discussion of first Saturday coverage of the Archives : Ann <br /> explained that all o'f their literature states th-at the <br /> Archives will be open the first Saturday of the month. <br /> Jim Moroney had, prepared a study of visitors to theArchives : - <br /> In 1999 , they had had 120 visitors , of those 12 were on <br /> Saturday . There were a number of Saturdays when they had no <br /> visitors. <br /> The following is a bread -down of Saturday visitors and their <br /> purposes : <br /> - Tourists . <br /> 1 Researcher - a legislator from Brookline. <br /> - - Gave no reasons except Indians * <br /> 1 - for a photo exhibit - a woman .from New Seabury . <br /> I - for taxes . <br />
