Chairperson, Lee Gurney <br /> presided. <br /> Commissioners Present: Rosemary Burns, Lee Gurney, and f=rank Lord, Gordon Peters <br /> and Gail Slattery. <br /> Commissioners Absent: Sunny Merritt and Paula Peters. <br /> ' <br /> Rosemary movedthat w accept the Minutes of the Decembermeeting as read, and <br /> her motion was approved. <br /> The Commission discussed 'clarif jn the-position of the MHC as relating to helping the <br /> Il ashpee One-Room Schoolhouse Preservation Council,• inc. . MOSPC We are <br /> willing to assist there as an advisory board but not to manage-their projects. <br /> Lee presented 'the 2008 budget for the MHC. Essentially, we will have the same <br /> amounts as the budget for Zoo . She also asked that we purchase any supplies, <br /> books, etc., that we need before the fiscal year end. We should also obtain from the <br /> town accounting department a Certificate of Exemption so that purchases may be tax <br /> exempt. In addition, members of the Commission can fill out a form in order to be <br /> assigned a Vendor Number, so that they may be reimbursed from the town for MHC <br /> supplies and other necessary purchases. <br /> Lee has submitted an order for books from the Rational Trust for Historic Preservation. <br /> Frank Lord has' requested a subscription to the Native American Quarterly (ray be <br /> under a new name). Rosemary mentioned that she mould like us to renew our <br /> membership in the blew England Historical and Genealogy Society which she has found <br /> to be useful in the past. Lee also suggested that an interesting project might be to look <br /> up the names of all Native Americans who have seared in the military-services in past- <br /> wars. She said. there appears to be an extraordinary number in relation to total <br /> llashpee population in those periods, and they have made a tremendous contribution to <br /> p <br /> our country. <br />
