-2-
Frank Lord will work with Kevin Blute at Mashpee High School and the students who will
be doing their senior projects related to Mashpee's history.
Rosemary made a motion that we have our basket collection appraised. Frank
seconded the motion, and it was approved. Frank has photographed our collection and
is presently looking into a way to get that project done.
Rosemary is going to be reviewing our Library Books Collection to determine which
books we have that might be placed at the Mashpee Library for circulation to make
them more available to people who are interested in American Indian history. We
would, of course, retain any books relating specifically to Mashpee and the Wampanoag
tribe in our research only library.
A discussion was held concerning items, such as guest registers and the donations box
from the Meeting House currently in the Mashpee Archives, which would be more
appropriately displayed at the Meeting House.
We will be closing the Archives for the season on Thursday, December 16tt', but the
Commissioners will be available by appointment. We play to reopen by May 1, 2011
and have our traditional Schoolhouse Open House on Memorial Day, May 30th.
Rosemary made a motion which was seconded by Gordon Peters that the Mashpee
Historical Commission purchase the microfilm records for the 17th and 18th centuries
regarding Mashpee at the Massachusetts State Archives, and the motion was
approved.
The meeting was adjourned at 12:30pm. The next meeting of the Mashpee Historical
Commission will be held on May 9, 2011, shortly after we reopen in the spring.
