Mrs. Botsford stated that the other item that needed to be addressed was the on-going <br /> issue of Falmouth Housing Authority administering Section 8 Vouchers in Mashpee. The <br /> Commissioners were provided a copy of a letter Mrs. Botsford sent to Leslie Greene,, <br /> Assistant Executive Director of the Falmouth Housing Authority based on a conversation <br /> with Ms. Likins. A copy of Ms. Greene's response was also provided to the <br /> commissioners and read aloud by Mss. Botsford, Mrs. Botsford mentioned that the <br /> letter was not addressed to Bob Murray, the Executive Director, because Ms. Likins' <br /> converssotion was with Ms. Greene, Additionally, Mr. Murray has been clear in past <br /> meetings that he is going to continue to administer Section 8 Vouchers in Mashpee. <br /> Mrs. Botsford mentioned that this was a good example of an issue that she needs the <br /> board's guidance and support on. Mr. Peoples mentioned that he thought it would be <br /> appropriate to initiate communication from the board of commissioners to Falmouth's <br /> board of commissioners regarding our concerns. Ms. Finton mentioned that, to her <br /> knowledge,, Barnstable and Plymouth Housing Authorities were also administering their <br /> Section 8 Vouchers in Mashpee. Mme. Botsford mentioned that NAHRO did announce it's <br /> formal opinion regarding housing authorities administering Section 8 vouchers in other <br /> downs and it is that they strongly discourage it. Ms. Sinton suggested getting <br /> something from them in writing before the board proceeds further. Mrs. Botsford <br /> stated she world try to get something from them by the next meeting. Ms. l.ikins <br /> staffed that she had received a letter from Falmouth Mousing Authority a while ago, <br /> which indicted that her certiflcate/voucher would be administered In the town she dived <br /> in if it were not in Falmouth. She sated that She would try to locate the letter. <br /> OTHER BUSINESS: Norte <br /> COMM UNICpTIQNS/CORRESPONDENCE: Mrs. Botsford reported that, other than <br /> what she had already mentioned, the had received a correspondence from Mashpee <br /> Fire and Rescue thanking her for her support at the Mashpee Town Meeting, <br /> ELECTION OF OFFICERS: <br /> The Chairman announced the opening of nominations for election of Chairperson of the <br /> Board of Commissioners for the Mashpee Housing Authority. A motion was made by <br /> Mr. Peoples and seconded by Ms. Williams to nominate Lorri Hinton for the <br /> position of Chairperson. The motion carried unanimously. The Chairman <br /> announced the opening of nominations for election of Vice-chairperson of the Board of <br /> Commissioners for the Mashpee Housing Authority. A motion was made by Ms. <br /> Findon and seconded by Ms,, Williams to nominate E. Stuart Peoples for the <br /> position of Vice-chairperson. The motion carried unanimously.The Chairman <br /> announced the opening of nominations for election of Treasurer of the Board of <br /> Commissioners for the Mashpee Housing Authority. A motion was made by Mr. <br /> Peoples and seconded by Ms. Elkins to nominate Laverne Williams for the <br /> position of Treasurer. The motion carried unanimously. <br /> The next meeting will be Thursday, July 13, 2000 at 5:30 PM. <br /> Page 5 of 6 <br />
