help From other representatives from the housing authority, especially the board of
commissioners. A short discussion ensued and it was agreed that Mr-s. Botsford would
notify the board of items she needed their"voice" on, so that they could then support
the director and help represent the housing authority. Ms. Williams suggested setting
some long-term goals, as well as shock term goals. Mrs. Botsford sated that her most
important goal was to continue to actively work on the development of the land that
the housing authority got from the tows. Mrs. Botsford stated that, although there is a
great need for more family housing, she feels it is important to finish this development
before trying to start working on getting more I nd to develop family housing. Mrs.
Botsford stated that she also has goals to develop a computer station for clients, to
create a web site for the housing authority, and to finish the parking lot expansion
project, which is underway. Ms. Sinton suggested putting down on paper some short
range and long-range goals and we could leak at it next meeting. Ms. Williams
reiterated that Mrs. Botsford should Int the board know when there are items that she
needs the commissioners'support on. Ms. Williams also stated that it was important for
Mrs. Botsford to keep attending all the groups and meetings she goes to and to get
even more involved with other agencies so that Mashpee Housing Authority's presence
is felt out in the community. Mrs. Botsford mentioned that there was currently one
item that she could use some support with and that was to help keep the formation of
the town's affordable housing committee moving. She mentioned that other towns were
successful in getting the warrant item passed at town meeting, but thea it took two
years or more to actually get the committee formed. She stated that maybe the
housing authority could make suggestions to the board of Selectmen on who to appoint
to the committee.
Ms. FintQn then stated that the board needed to address Mss. Botsford's request for
remuneration for services rendered for her work on the design and creation of
databases for the housing authority. This work was done on her own time and is not
part of her regular duties as Executive Director. Ms. Williams read Mrs. Botsford's
request in full and then, based on the sub-committee's recommendation, emotion
was made by Ms. Williams and seconded by Mr. Peoples to offer Mrs.
Botsford a remuneration in the amount of$2,000,.00 for services rendered
above and beyond her regular duties as Executive Director. The motion was
adopted. Mrs. Botsford thanked all of the commissioners,
NEW BUSINESS:
Mrs. Botsford mentioned that she did have a couple of items to address under new
business, She stated that,, based on the housing authority's request, the Board of
Selectmen had advertised the vacancy on the dousing authority board and they
forwarded the one response they received, which was from Barbara Thurston. A short
discussion ensued and it was agreed that Ms. Fnton and Ms. Williams would interview
Ms. Thurston before a recommendation be made to the Selectmen regarding an
appointment.
Page 4 of B
1
