<br /> Discussion:Barbara Nichols reviewed the June th Selectmen's meeting, where propel'owners around
<br /> the lake spoke at public comment time voicing their concerns about erosion and property damage caused
<br /> by the high water levels. lWs. Nichols reported the latest water levels, and she acknowledged a phone call
<br /> from Perry Ellis saying he would remove a second hoard after DPW removed'some sand build up. when
<br /> Mrs. Nichols asked permission from Chainnan Green to hand out Mr. Stanney's 8 X 10 photos of the
<br /> erosion damage,to the selectmen, she was told,"It won't make any.. Yes,you can hand them out." The
<br /> Selectmen revisited the topic at the enol of the meeting. Perry Ellis stated he needed 7 inches of the water
<br /> in the stream in the spring for the herring. Three Selectmen felt that Bob Sherman should vier the -
<br /> picture o see if conservation issues were involved., IIr . Mason aid Selectman Cook agreed to-contact
<br /> the NfVv LM Committee to better improve communication. See minutes of June 14,2005.
<br /> yrs. Nichols acknowledged the committee received a copy of a lengthy letter from Dave Nelson that he
<br /> had written to the Selectmen and the Marshpee Enterprise. Mrs.Nichols reported that 7.5 inches of water
<br /> was flowing over the darn, and approx. 23 inches of beards're ain buried in-the sandl,which needs to b
<br /> cleaned out of the dam area. Joyce Mason reported she-i s still looking for information o the dam r but
<br /> Ernie virgilho.dated it between 1981 and 1983. Joyce also shared copies of correspondence with the
<br /> Natural Tentage and Endangered Species Program. of DF & w, Witten in September 1997, and April and
<br /> June of 1 998, which explained their rare species concerns,but which also shows the people really have no
<br /> understanding of the problem caused by high water. Joke reported that she had given Bob Sherman
<br /> copies of fir. Stanney's pictures of damage around the lake,but Bob has been on vacation and unable t
<br /> be reached. Mr. l ar elli felt that a six inch board could be placed in the spring j ust before the herring
<br /> run, then taken out, and put in again just before the out migration, and again removed before winter. Ralph
<br /> also .suggested putting permanent marldnigs on the dans, so that one could easily read the water level.

<br /> Conclusions: The water level continues to drop slowly. Permanent markings on the dam would make
<br /> accurate measurements easier and water levels readily identifiable.
