On June 1 5th,Mrs. Nichols net with Mark
ralkowski, the natural Resource Officer in Sandwich. He marked the MW lake watershed neap to show
parts in Sandwich. He was aware of the high water level in My Lake, and stated he had a good working
relationship with ferry Ellis. He also stated that the lake might need a separate outlet to relieve high water
in addition to the herring run, as do some lakes in Barnstable. Mrs. Nichols mentioned that she did water
duality testing in the lake and shared the high total phosphorus level of 31 obtained in wakeby Dale last
October. Mr. Galkow ki offered several suggestions. 1. Sample water from the upland bog, which is
bordered by homes in Ryder woods-. 2. Obtain a water sample for total phosphorus from the bog in early
spring.? April or May. I Contact George Dunham, Town Administrator in Sandwich. 4. Contact Dave
Mason of the Board of Health 5. Remain in contact to protect the lake. l&. Galkow ki knows the bog
n
owner,Mr. Halun n,and may speak with hien at some point. t&. Taylor stated that we need to be careful
to avoid trespassing, when gaining water samples on private land. The MEC water sampler in Wakeby
Lake,Paul Harrington, is a Sandwich resident and could perhaps help.
Conclusion: Follow up samples should be drawn. Contact George Dunham before gathering samples in
Sandwich-
i
