i
i
[Anda topic 3] Weed identification =
Discussion: There has been no response from the New England Aquarium. Barbara has found a Jim
Straub at the NIA Dept. of Conservation and Recreation who offered to help identify the weed if we send a
digital picture. Andrew has offered to get a specimen in the next few weeks.
Conclusions: We plan to send a digital picture of the weed in several areas of the two ponds to Jim Straub
when we are able to obtain a specimen..
[Agehda' topic ] f ickerel Cove Recreation.area- --
- -
Discussion: The Town meeting article passed which will allow six parking spaces, a 2 acre recreational
field and a low-impact"car-top" canoe and kayak area.
Conclusions; A low-'impact recreational area is being developed near Pickerel Cove.
n
pie
..#. [Agenda o : ►.ttuinair .. .} ..
Gate .
.. :,-
Discussion: D. McManus had seen car lights late at night at A.tta uxn.Park and the committee wondered if
the lot was being secured at night in the winter. In an email, Lt Read stated that the gates are not secured
in in the off season. He mentioned this was a heavily patrolled area.
Conclusions: Attaquin Park gate is not locked off-season.
(Ag' e''ilda top ic Lake Management conteittee _
: ...;
'— —
Discussion; The Selectmen had our conumttee on the agenda for the November 21 meeting. Barbara
spore to tell there the history, member's names and activities of the committee. This committee discussed
the possibility of a combined committee for the six lakes in Mashpee. We felt that a 5 member committee
for each of 5 ponds, the exception being Moody which is small and remote would be best, and then a
quarterly meeting of 2 members from this committee, John's Pond, Ashumet and Santu.it Fond might be
feasible. The town definitely needs to be aware of any problems in the fresh water ponds, and MWLMC
members felt committee members of other Fonds should have members living on those lakes
Conclusions: Selectmen are discussing the possibility of having a combined lake committee.
zr
.:. .r. A Possible Monday or Thursday meeting that week was suggested.
Conclusions: Barbara will email missing members and liaison W. Taylor to see which date is best.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:25 P.M.
Respectfully submitted,
Barbara B.Nichols
