3 <br /> Town of Mashpee <br /> Mashpee Public Library Committee . <br /> Library Expansion Building Committee <br /> Minutes of Meeting <br /> October 25, 1999 <br /> The Town of Mashpee Library ExpansionBuilding- Conn ittee <br /> Meeting was called to order at the Mashpee Public Library, in <br /> the Library Meeting Room, 10Lathan Ellis Highway, Mashpee, <br /> Massachusetts at 7 :20 p.m. on Monday, October 25, 1999 . Mr. <br /> David Burton, Chairman Pro- tem presided. <br /> Committee Members present: David Burton; Ernest Cole, Jr. ; <br /> Edward DeFoe; and Grace Talmage. <br /> Also present: Helene DeFoe, Library Director; and Mike <br /> Bailey, Mashpee Enterprise. <br /> quorum being present, the Chairman called the Meeting to <br /> order, <br /> AS the first order of business, -the Chairman informed <br /> Committee Members that ars interview process had been conducted on <br /> Monday, October 18, 1999, t Mashpee Town Hall, under the <br /> direction of Mr. Robert Whritenour, Town Administrator. The <br /> Chairman explained the three top ranking firms, chosen by the <br /> Committee had been interviewed. <br /> As the Chairman was not present for said interview process, <br /> he deferred to Edward DeFoe to report further: <br /> Sub-Committee Report <br /> Mr. DeFoe stated the three firms were J. Stewart Roberts, <br /> Inc. - Gaffney Architects, Inc. ; and Powers and Company, Inc. <br /> Each firm conducted a presentation in response to a questionnaire <br /> provided by the Committee in advance of the interview session. <br /> Mr. DeFoe stated all three firms addressed all of the .issues <br /> requested by the Committee. As -a result of the interview process <br /> it i now the joint responsibility of the oinmttee and the Board <br /> f Trustees to vote each firm in a rank order, which <br /> recommendation is to be forwarded to the Board of Selectmen for <br /> their approval in order to proceed into final negotiations with <br /> each architectural fi rm. <br /> Mr. DeFoe then shared his evaluation stating Stewart Roberts <br /> had made a very good presentation, displaying his works by way o <br /> pictures and schematic designs of the many library projects t <br /> his credit . Accompanying Mr. Roberts were two of his associates <br /> who addressed all of the issues. Mr. DeFoe commented on their <br /> vast library expertise, noting they appeared to be very <br /> competent. <br />
