z <br /> i <br /> Darlene bene Powers of Powers and Company, Inc. made very nice <br /> presentation, although what she lacked In the duality of <br /> technical information, she more than compensated for with <br /> enthusiasmfor the Mashpee project. she had conducted informal <br /> discussions with Mashp-ee Commons, as well as research at Town <br /> Hall, including investigation of the original drawings of the <br /> existing Library building. She shared basic sketches and <br /> thoughts, one of which would be to tie the new building structure <br /> into the Mashpee Commons structures, as a means of extending the <br /> Library site. Mr. DeFoe reiterated she appeared to possess great <br /> enthusiasm towards the project. <br /> Mr. DeFoe reported that although Gaffney Architects, Inc. <br /> had made an adequate presentation, he feels disappointed that Mr. <br /> Therrien does not consider a Library Consultant, a specialist in <br /> library work, to be a necessity. It is Mr. eFoe' s impression <br /> that Mr. Therrien would look to the Committee to outline the <br /> needs of the Library, which he would then translate into the <br /> drawings. whereas the other two firms under onsideration each <br /> had a consultant who would prepare an analysis and determine the <br /> needs of the Library. <br /> Based upon his reaction to the interview session, Mr. DeFoe <br /> recommended. Darlene Powers, of Powers and Company, Inc. , stating <br /> her enthusiasm would serve the project very well . He also <br /> mentioned her attachment to Cape Cod and to the Town of Mashpee, <br /> specifically John' s Fond, and to family members residing in <br /> Forestdale. <br /> Mr, DeFoe stated he was very impressed with the results of <br /> Powers and Company, Inc. ' s involvement with the New England <br /> Genealogical Library project in Boston, which project consisted <br /> of an expansion of the building within the building itself. He <br /> also stated that according to committee Member, Gary Fynatian, <br /> who had made inquiries of the Genealogical Library, the firm was <br /> very highly praised. <br /> Based upon all of the above, Mr. DeFoe Mated he would like <br /> to recommend Powers and company, Inc. as his first choice, with <br /> J. Stewart Roberts Associates, Inc. as a Second choice, leaving <br /> Gaffney Architects, Inc. as third choice. <br /> At this point of the Meeting, the Chairman stated for the <br /> Record the names of the following Library Trustee Members who <br /> were present at this time: Diana Smith; Carlo iste; Anton <br /> uschenfel dt; and Mimi Marsh. <br /> The Chairman provided copies of the questionnaire forwarded <br /> to the architectural firms under consideration for the benefit of <br /> said Trustee members. <br /> The chairman then stated Mr. DeFoe had presented his <br /> impression of the interview process; and that although Committee <br /> rt - <br />
