Mashpee Public Library
Re: Cost Analysis
By EMAIL
Buff and Douglas:
1 have looked over Powers and Co. cost estimate for the Mashpee Library
dated 8
January 2001. The drawings I have for the building are dated 18 January
2001. The
cost figures I see are Construction Costs and do not include fees,
furniture,
fixtures and equipment, or other Project Costs.
>From the documentation I have, it is difficult to discern the
construction type of
.he proposed building but I would guess it is a steel framed building.
,The cost of
construction of 27,080 sf is about $208 per square foot. I cannot tell
this
ncludes the basement and expansion mezzanine in the attic space. The
otal square
dotage of building drawn including basement and mezzanine is 29,680.
e basement
Ione is 1810 sf and the mezzanine is 2600 sf. No combination of
qures that I can
me up with equals 27,080. It was not clear from the program
rmation that 1
IR what the expansion requirements are. The scheme we presented last
k has
own no expansion potential.
econd issue is that the program as currently defined by the Powers
ument is a
I of 17,082 sf. This would translate into an 85% efficiency of net
a to
ss area on 20,000, which is an unlikely figure to achieve. The gross
a needs
nclude walls and structure, support space (including mechanical and
ets) and
eral circulation.
Tuesday,April W,20M America online:Kevinjconnolly Page: 1
