Mr. Roberts opened the discussion up for <br /> questions from the board. The board touched on several areas of concern <br /> including cost, parking, and the footprint of the building as well as political <br /> issues of destroying the present building and/or adding new construction. <br /> The board as well as Ms. Mason feels the cost is creeping up on this project <br /> and it is of great concern considering our $3 million budget. The board <br /> discusses at length generating committees for fundraising and how important <br /> that will be in the overall plan of completing the library. Kevin Connolly <br /> defers most of the fundraising to David Burton and Board of Library <br /> Trustees and suggests the Building Committee and the Board of Trustees <br /> work together toward the same goal for the utmost efficiency. Mr. Renz <br /> reminds the board that their charge is to present the town with a library and <br /> not to locate all of the funds to build it. <br /> Mr. Connolly would like Helene DeFoe to go over the presentation by Mx. <br /> Roberts with a fine toothcomb and see how things really look since she has <br /> the expertise in this area. She will do this . <br /> Mr. Connolly notes that the next Library Trustee's meeting is September 10, <br /> 2002 for those interested. He will be in touch with Mr. Burton regarding the <br /> fundraising matters. <br /> In general, the board is very pleased with Mr. Roberts' presentation. They <br /> are concerned with the cost as is Ms. Mason. <br /> The next building committee meeting with be Tuesday, August 27, 2002 at <br /> 7:00 p.m. <br /> Old Business: Bonnie Barrett asks Ms. Mason about the attorneys' <br /> answers with respect to donated gift of$80,000. Ms. Mason informed the <br /> board that much of the firm is and has been on vacation and she does not <br /> have an official answer from them. Ms. Mason does not feel this "in kind" <br /> gift will be a problem and if the scope of services needs to be adjusted then <br /> r <br /> 1 <br />
