Sheldon noted that information has been received that there is a new round of State grant proposals. <br /> Applications for the grant will be sent to Helene Del`oe for her consideration as to whether to file a <br /> notice of intent. Mrs. Jackson reported that based on a$3.5million project, we could qualify for <br /> $11590,000, if we ret all the conditions. <br /> As a point of interest, Sheldon reported that the Oak Bluffs Library on Martha's vineyard had just <br /> received a$3.8 million bid for a 15,000 sq. ft. new library. Oak Bluffs population currently is less <br /> than 4,000, with a sumrner population of 10,000. <br /> REVIEW v of ESTIMATED COST OF LIBRARY AND SOURCES CES of FUNDS. <br /> Tori O'Neill reported on the following fundraising events being planned: <br /> 1. April 2e—symposium at New seabury country club. Eleven individuals, including architects, <br /> civil engineers, educators and systems analysts, will be participating in the symposium. Torn i <br /> looking for an appropriate person to act a -moderator, who can lead the discussion while at the`same <br /> time give the event some visUlity. Volunteers are also needed to act as hosts an good will <br /> ambassadors to the visiting parficipants, who will be arriving friday evening and departing on Sunday <br /> afternoon. There will b a cocktail party Friday evening, Nuith potential--donors invited. forum <br /> participants will be receiving comprehensive.background information on what has transpired to date <br /> regarding plans for the new library. The forum wi11 be videotaped. Also, a paper will be written and <br /> published as a synopsis of the forum discussions. <br /> S . May 1 —Willowbend Funralsr. <br /> 3.June 25P—cocktail Party,, at the home of one of Tom's friends. <br /> .August 1n—Now Age Iutc concert, with Moya Brennan. <br /> .,August 26th—Smooth Ja Sounds Concert, featuring Acoustic Alchemy, a British musical <br /> gaup. Both Moya and Acoustic Alchemy are Grammy Award winners. <br /> The Mashpee Concert Committee may be Lapp d at some later date, as well. Torn ernpoas ed his <br /> feeling that we need to think big, and-think globally to pull in Ivey people, in order to gain important <br /> visibility for the new library project. <br /> PEN DISCUSSION. <br /> Energy Conservation for commercial Buildings; Jane Dolan reported that she had carefully <br /> reviewed the information on the energy conservation grant. Her assessment of the situation was that, <br /> based upon the labor intensive effort to apply for the grant, and based upon the small amount that <br /> would be gained by it,the co mittee should not pursue application for the grant.. Instead, she <br /> recommended that the LBS concentrate on incorporating energy-saving ideas into the construction <br /> plans. <br /> Tl,e next meeting of the Library Building Committee is scheduled for Tuesday, April 1� ', 2004 at :00 <br /> P l at the Mashpee Public Library.
