Assessments <br /> expressed at the forum include the following: <br /> - All agreed it would be unwise to consider reusing the current library building, stating malaise of <br /> the structure and costs to renovate <br /> - All agreed that option 1 was the best choice <br /> All agreed not to waste time on environmental efforts <br /> - All agreed a basement should be included in the building plans, suggesting an open stairwell to <br /> the basement, giving light to the rooms in the basement <br /> - All agreed the existing library is woefully inadequate for a town the size of Mashpee <br /> - All agreed the new library must be a cultural center <br /> - Suggestions were rude regarding layout of the new design <br /> - suggested LBC stick with art and culture, and leave out plans for a business center <br /> - Martha Moore, library consultant, offered to help with the grant application <br /> Tom gill compile a report for use by t he LBC which vw iII include all the recom mendations and ideas that <br /> carne out of the forum. <br /> NEW BUSINESS. <br /> May t" Town Meeting. The Town voted to approve funding to reinstate a fulltime library staff position. <br /> The Selectmen will need to approve advertising to hire a neva staff person. <br /> Library Family. The committee agreed that the library trustees, friends and the LBC need to become � <br /> more integrated, continue to keep the lines of communication open, and to beef up the fund raising effort. <br /> Sheldon Gilbert and Bonnie Barrett will report at the next LBC meeting on their meeting in Wrentham on <br /> May 25 <br /> �". <br /> OPEN ISCUSSIO . <br /> -Diana Lannon and Tom 'Neill will be working on interior design~ plans for the new library. <br /> -Architect's fee is % of construction costs. <br /> -Sheldon Gilbert officially acknowledged a Grote of thanks to Torn O'Neill for his efforts in orchestrating the <br /> forum held on May .
