OLD BUSINESS. <br /> Results of the library survey conducted by the Library Trustees have been compiled. Dare Burton stated <br /> that the survey results would be rade available to the LBC at the next meeting. <br /> NEW BUSINESS. <br /> Future Activities <br /> Publicity. The committee will be meeting on 8/14/04 at the library at 3:30 PM. Names of any additional <br /> persons interested in joining the committee should be communicated to Bonnie Barrett. Jerry <br /> Blur engarten has prepared a draft of a flier for publicity purposes. suggestions/comments for Oban <br /> ge <br /> are welcome. <br /> Fund Raising. Plans for the two v illowbend benefit concerts in August are being finalized. The benefit <br /> auction at Popponesset Marketplace is scheduled for July 24th. <br /> Planning. The issue of planning for a basement for the new library has been raised. The question needs <br /> to be addressed as to whether there is good reason for future consideration of this added expense to the <br /> overall project. <br /> Presentations.tions. It was suggested that a presentation to the Mashpee Women's Club be arranged for <br /> some time in September. <br /> Greats. Sheldon reported that Patience Jackson is meeting next Tuesday, June 15 cn with Helene Del=oe <br /> to discuss our library plans as currently developed. Patience has many issues with the current design, in <br /> teras of winning a State grant. Application for a state great is very problematic, with many hurdles. <br />�- Helene Del=oe will report back to the committee after her meeting with Patience Jackson� t� <br />� <br /> Volunteer Program tExisting <br /> n,dune � , <br /> Spruce u the Existing Library. <br /> Bonnie Barrett asked for clarification of the rationale behind the volunteer effort being organized to spruce <br /> up the existing library. Sheldon explained that the library is going to be used for another several years, <br /> until the new library becomes a fact. The earliest date for beginning of construction of the new library is <br /> July 1, 2006, The library staff has to live in the building, the townspeople need to use the building, and <br /> we want it to be a welcoming place. Sheldon stated that two of the symposium participants, <br /> y P p p <br /> Martha Moore, from the National bb—i'dry Association, and Kathleen Garvey, Director of the Boston <br /> College O'Neill,Library, had turn din their synopses of the p <br /> workshop. As soon as all <br /> 4 <br /> participants.reports have been received, a full report will be prepared for use by the LBC, <br /> OPEN DISCUSSION <br /> Jerry Blurengarten reported plans for a website mission statement for the Mashpee citizens Association. <br /> The goal of the association is to promote voter registration, attendance at town meetings, involvement of <br /> individuals in Town volunteer work, and support of the new library project. <br /> Dave Burton stated that he has been in contact with the MITA.
