Sheldon Gilbert reported that he and Torn o' eiil recently met with Tori Grotty <br /> of The Phoenix.Group, a civil engineering group, at their offices located in the Popponesset <br /> 11 arl etplace. Nor. rot y was orae of the participants in the I ayenforum. One of Mr. rot ' <br /> recommendations Was that the LBC explore the option of adding a basement to the LBC <br /> construction plans, and indicated that there are building materials and construction methods that <br /> can be used that do two things: save on construction and energy costs. The Mashpee Citizens <br /> for Civic Pride recommended inclusion of a basement for the new library. For these reasons, the <br /> LBC has asked Randall lmai to gather more information on the materials recommended by Mr. <br /> trot t y, which are widely used in southern states and hire been used in some commercial <br /> buildings in New England as well. <br /> Fund Raising. The July 24�h auction at the Poppcnesset Marketplace is scheduled from 4P 11 to <br /> PM. Many items have been donated for the Auction which is expected to raise$50 2 000 for the <br /> Library Construction fund. Torn O'Neill stated that media packages are being prepared for radio <br /> stations -the success of fundraising events hinges on publicity. August 26th is the date for the <br /> Acoustic Alchemy concert. The second concert is slated for some time in late September. Cost <br /> of each event is$135, and includes areal. <br /> Grace Talmage is considering a dinner dance at Queshnet Malley Country Club as a fundraiser <br /> for the new library, some time net winter. Maureen Rounds stated that Maureen O'Conner is <br /> thinking about doing a boosaie, giving a percentage of the proceeds to the library building fund, <br /> Presentations. The general approach is to rake presentations to groups closer to Town <br /> Meeting date in October. Many groups have been identified but nothing is in the works at the <br /> present time. Cape Cod Times will provide an opportunity for a column in September. The <br /> Mashpee Enterprise has been supportive, with a recent column that was accurate. Mashpee <br /> Focus local television program will offer an LBC interview opportunity. A video is being <br /> considered, if we have a venue to present it. Suggestions will be appreciated. <br /> Library improvement Project. Dave Burton reported that the Town has received three bids, and <br /> has agreed to paint the interior of the existing library. Two days will be needed to do the job, <br /> preferably a Thursday and Friday, as the.library currently already is closed on Fridays. Helene <br /> DeFoe and Dave Burton have conducted interviews with a number of good candidates for the <br />
