TOWN OF MASHPEE <br /> LIBRARY BUILDING COMMITTEE <br /> Minutes o the Meeting of July 22, 2004 <br /> Committee Attendees: Also Attending: <br /> Sheldon Gilbert Helene D Foe, Librarian <br /> Bonnie Barrett <br /> Sunny Merritt <br /> Ed DeFoe <br /> Jane Dolan <br /> Maureen Founds <br /> Torry O'Neill <br /> Chairman Sheldon Gilbert called the meeting to order at 7:1 o PM. <br /> REVIEW of 6129104 MINUTES <br /> The minutes were corrected as follows: <br /> i on page 1, under Construction, change Tori trot ky to Michael Grotzky <br /> on page 1, under Fund Raising, line g, delete the word #booksaleand insert the words `fashion <br /> show and sale" <br /> The minutes were unanimously approved as corrected. <br /> COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> Publicity—Bonnie Barrett. <br /> Bonnie distributed to the committee a publicity schedule handout. There are 5 educational events <br /> scheduled, at the invitation of ll ashpee Commons. The dates for these events are as follows: 7/27, <br /> 7/291 /131 9/18, and 10103. At all of these events, there will be a library display table with a banner <br /> saying"Ask <br /> t s els About Your New Library on display will be a colorful poster with renderings of the new <br /> library. Handouts will include Fact Sheets and bookmarks. Voter registration pieces will also be <br /> available. There will be two to three people manning the table. Bonnie is looking for additional recruits to <br /> be the third person at the table for some of the event dates. <br /> - Bonnie distributed a Questions and Answers About the Proposed New Library for Mashpee <br /> document. This is for use by the Library family only, as a basic script to answer questions about the <br /> library project. It is not for publicity. <br /> -Ted l ladolny will be designing posters with renderings of the new library. The posters will be placed in <br /> buildings thr u hoot the community in September. <br /> - Bonnie reported that Cape cod Five paid for the printing for the bookmarks. Jerry Blumengarten and <br /> Sunny Merritt were very instrumental In getting out the bookmark. Sheldon suggested that library family <br /> members, when handing out bookmarks, should speak to people, and remind thea to look at both sides <br /> of the bookmark. The bookmark.should be used as a tool to talk about the new library. <br /> School Project. Maureen bounds and Sunny Merrlt, who have been working on this project, met with <br /> Coombs School principal Patricia Parols y. Patricia approved the poster essay competition idea. All <br /> student participants gill receive some form of recognition, i-e a certificate or award. A letter has been <br /> prepared that will go out to parents. Bookmarks will not be railed with the letter, but will be kept at the <br /> school. A Parent Advisory Committee (PAC) is being formed by Janet Burke to reach children who are <br /> not yet in school. <br /> Sheldon commented that good publicity is key-to informing the entire community before the election, and <br /> that feedback will be very important. <br /> Construction— Tori ONeill. <br /> Tori reported that he has the basic figures on the construction materials for the filled gall system <br /> recommended for consideration by Michael trot ky. He also received ernalls of three pictures of a <br /> limestone finish that was done. The information will provide a basis for comparison on construction costs. <br /> If money can.be saved on construction, perhaps we carr put it toward a basement, or have more square <br /> footage upstairs. Torn is in Dopes of having a comparison study by next week. <br />
