Fund Raising— Tori 0 Weill and Sunny Merritt. <br /> The 7/24104 auction at Popponessett Marketplace is from 4 PM to 7 PVI. The auction i.s expected <br /> to raise$50,000. <br /> -Willowb nd 8/26/04 concert posters are printed. Radio stations WQRC and Cool 102 have been <br /> approached to air advertisements of the event. Torn is not assigning a figure as to how much will <br /> be raised, but is concentrating on having,the best possible quality event, that wiII set a tone to <br /> reflect what the neva library will be. 2000 invitations are going out, reaching as far as Rhode <br /> Island, Boston, Chatham, with 350 tickets printed. <br /> Presentations&Print Media—Sheldon Gilbert. <br /> Presentations: Jerry Bl rnengarten has already been contacted regarding a presentation at-the Ma hpee <br /> Citizens Association. Jerry will make the Association members aware that Sheldon Is willing to present at <br /> each of their organizations or groups. Mashpee Mien's Club and the Senior Center are informally <br /> scheduled for sometime in the fall. <br /> Print media: Sheldon has written a letter to Ted Nadolny for inclusion in the chamber of Commerce <br /> Newsletter. Tom O'Neill and Sheldon were interviewed by John Bush for ars article to appear in the <br /> August issue of the Mashpee Commons Courier. Sheldon will be contacting the Mashpee Enterprise to <br /> arrange an appearance on the local television program, Mashpee Focus, after Labor Day. <br /> Lira,Improvement Status- Helene DeFoe. <br /> The Town Is getting quotes from painters, and is+leo ing for suitable dates after Labor Day to have the <br /> interior of the library painted. Diana Lannon asked for a letter to be sent to Carpet Barn, asking about <br /> carpets. No reply to the letter has been received as yet. Sheldon suggested that Helene also contact <br /> Cape cod carpet Discount on Rt. 130. <br /> Leffer of Intent for Sfafe Graaf <br /> Patience Jackson of the IATA. Board of Library commissioners had suggested we seek ars exemption from <br /> the state grant requirement to go through the RFQ process to hire an architect. Joyce Mason called the <br /> Attorney General and spoke to the Inspector General. Although he would not put anything in writing, the <br /> IG felt that we would be exempt as long as the plan prepared by our architects was a conceptual plan. <br /> Sheldon seat a letter to Patience Jackson explaining the status of the situation to date. <br /> Warrant Article Status. <br /> Helene D Foe reported that she spoke to Town clerk Debbie D mi, who stated that the warrant had <br /> gone up to the State and she was waiting for their okay. <br /> OLD BUSINESS. <br /> IAB: the library survey by David Burton. Bunn}Merritt asked about the sampling size for the survey. The <br /> exact-number was not known, but Helene felt that it was more than 50, probably somewhere in the area <br /> - of 100 to Zoo. <br /> NEW BUSINESS. <br /> Jane Dolan suggested having a baby sitting room at the school for the Town Meeting. Sheller felt that <br /> liability issues, necessary controls and legal sanctions would rake this difficult: but encouraged Jane to <br /> Investigate further what would be involved. <br /> Sheldon reminded the group that the serious fundraising will begin after the Town approval is confirmed. <br /> We should think about wearing hats, tee shirts, buttons to promote the neer library project. <br /> The next meeting of the LBC was scheduled for Tuesday, August 17, 2004, at 7:00 PM at the Mashpee <br /> Public Library.
