Sheldon Gilbert reported that the major fundraising concert event originally <br /> scheduled for 8!24/04 at Willowbend was cancelled because there was ars inadequate number of <br /> ticket sales. Sheldon expressed his feeling that the fundraising effort for the new library needs <br /> more coordination with the library's Board of Trustees and the Friends of the lashpee Public <br /> Library. Dave Burton suggested a breakfast meeting with representatives from these groups, to <br /> identify priorities and responsibilities, and to plan out a complete fundraising program. Dave <br /> Burton expressed appreciation to Torn O'Neill for all of his fundraising efforts to date. The LBC <br /> looks forward to continuing to work with him on the fundraising program. <br /> Sheldon summarized the fundraising need to be 1,000,000, to supplement the$3,500:000 from <br /> the Town. Any grant money that might be obtained could ease the private fundralsing burden. <br /> Publicity. Sheldon Gilbert reported that Ted I adolny is handling the production and distribution <br /> of posters. He reminded the committee that tables will be set up before the Town Meeting at <br /> Roche Brothers and Stop and Shop, and perhaps at the Post office, and that volunteers are still <br /> needed for certain time slots. The publicity effort will get into full swing in October. On October <br /> at :30 Pull, lllla hpee Focus will feature ars interview by,Janice Wolford vAth Sheldon Gilbert <br /> and Helene DeFoe. Mashpee courier coming out this week will include an article on the library <br /> program. <br /> Construction. Sheldon reported that he spoke to Robert rt Kendall, an architect and one of six <br /> individuals who attended Torn 'I eill's forum this past May, as well as Michael Grotzky. Mike is <br /> going to give us information about the use of Safecrete in construction of the library, as a means <br /> of reducing the cost of construction as well as a means of savings on heating costs. Safecr to <br /> website: www.safecrete.com. <br /> Robert Kendall and Tom O'Neill met recently to try to come up with a new design for the library, <br /> with exterior as well as interior changes from the Stewart Roberts plan. Torn is hoping to get <br /> elevations and the rendering of a different design for the committee's consideration. It is the <br /> feeling of the committee that improvements can be made from the design presented by Mr. <br /> !Roberts. Sheldon has not heard back yet from Stewart Roberts regarding the changes to his <br /> building design suggested by Patience Jackson. <br /> Sheldon stated that the three reports received from Forum participants would be made available <br /> to the LBC for review by next week. <br />
