Bonnie reported that she had sent out a revised publicity event
schedule along with volunteer signup sheets to all LBC members. Bonnie stated that publicity
initiatives at recent l lashpee Commons-hosted activities have not been productive, and will be
scaled back.'A better use of volunteer resources with greater opportunity to reach the public
appears to be at Roche Brothers, and Stop & shop, where the feedback has been positive and
very supportive. Bonnie still needs more volunteers on Oct. 16 to and Oct. 30th at Roche Brothers,
from 10 All to 12 Noon, and on Nov. 2, Election Day, rain or shine. At the October Town
Meeting, volunteers will be needed both inside and outside the building, before the meeting
convenes at 7PM. Posters have been completed and will be posted at public places around
Town.
The merits of organizing a telephone campaign were discussed. It was decided that such an
effort would be very annoying to the'public and therefore produce negative results. The idea was
discarded.
Dave Burton reported on a recent meeting with Ted Nadolny during which he discussed inclusion
of a piece in the n'e ct Chamber of Commerce Newsletter, urging support of the Friends of the
Library. The LBC agreed that 1t Would be inadvisable to combine a mixed message of fundraising
for the new library along with the request for new Friends members.
,ferry Blur engarten recommended posting signs arou"rid Town, reminding residents to go to
Town Meeting and Flection. He also suggested a display table inside the school with a poster,
and having large narnetags for the volunteers, 1.e., "Library Friends,
A block ad In the Mashpee Enterprise was suggested.
