.,. <br /> TOWN OF MASHPEE <br /> LIBRARY BCOMMITTEE <br /> Minutes of the Meeting of Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004 <br /> committee Attendees: Also Attending: <br /> Sheldon Gilbert Helene DeFoe, Library Director <br /> Bonnie Barrett John Rent, Mashpee Commons <br /> Sunny Merritt Nancy Stafford, Library Trustee <br /> Maureen Rounds Vanda Meyer, Mashpee Resident <br /> Steve cook Mike Bailey, Mashpee Enterprise <br /> ,bane Dolan Committee Members Absent: <br /> Ed DeFoe David Burton <br /> Chairman Sheldon Gilbert called the meeting to order at 7:10 Phil. <br /> REVIEW F MINUTES <br /> The committee unanimously approved as presented the minutes from the meeting of 9121104. <br /> COMMITTEE REPORTS <br /> Fund Raising— Tont ONeill. Tom reported on a meeting held on October 1 t New Se bury <br /> Country club. Luncheon was seared at 12-30 PM,followed by a meeting in the Board Room, <br /> moderated by Martha Moore, one of the consultants who participated in the original Library Forum~ <br /> held this spring. Martha is now Director of Philanthropy for a nonprofit clearinghouse, Associated <br /> Grant Makers(AMG), for all fundraising foundations for libraries worldwide. Martha gave a <br /> PowerPoint presentation to demonstrate how to access information available online relating to the <br /> grant writing process, and how to identify foundations that have grant funds for libraries. Martha <br /> plans to identify a professional grant writer who will in turn identity ten foundations with grant funds <br /> available for libraries. The Friends of the Library plan to provide funds to pay for the services of the <br /> grant writer recommended by Martha. <br /> Publicity—Bonne Barrett. <br /> .Posters—were prepared by Ted Hadolny, and distributed to local banks, The Boys&Girls Club, <br /> Southport, Post Office, Wampanoag Tribal Council, senior center, and kiosks in Mashpee Commons. <br /> Presentations—reaction to all has been positive. Sheldon Gilbert met with the Mashpee Men's <br /> Club; Helene DeFoe and Sheldon were guests of Janice Walford on the Mashpee Focus television <br /> show; Maureen Rounds attended the Quashnet Homeowners Association, and two sessions at the <br /> library for mothers of pre-schoolers; Anon MacDonald-Dailey spoke at the New Seabur Women's <br /> Club and the Mashpee Realtor's Group. <br /> In orrmplion Tables—Oktoberfest table was manned by Ed DeFoe, ,bane Dolan and Maureen <br /> Rounds. Tables at Stop& shop and Roche Brothers will be sunned Sat_ Oct. 16 th. <br /> Tele hone call Scri —Bonnie Barrett is working up a script for committee members to use in <br /> calling 10 to 20 of their friends(not cold calls), urging there to vote YES at Town Meeting and Election <br /> night. <br /> Town Meetlna & Election l lit—a poster on an easel with a rendering of the new library will be on <br /> display inside the building. Dave Burton will provide nametags for all of the Library Family, denoting <br /> LBC, Trustee, Friends, but no name. <br /> Maas Mailing—Dave Burton and Ted Nadolny will do a mass mailing to Mashpee residents with text <br /> including"Vote YES for the New Library,. The mailing will also serve as a recruitment for new <br /> Friends members. <br /> Mashpee Enterprise Ad—will appear in the Oct. 15th edition, paid for by the Friends, asking for a <br /> TE YES for the new Mashpee Public Library on 10118 and 11102. Sheldon Gilbert read a letter he <br /> has written to the editors at both the Mashpee Enterprise and the Cape Cod Tunes. <br />
