Dave Burton stated that the storage shed was scheduled to arrive on Thursday, March 31', ready
for installation. Two skylights will be 'installed in the shed. Cave reported that Ir. Walker is ready
to assist with the project to rove the books from the library into the new shed.
STATUS of BILL FOR 7 MILLION LIBRARY CONSTRUCTION BONDING
AUTHORIZATION
Sheldon Gilbert announced that the Senate Bili 1841 was established on March 25'.
CASH REQUIREMENTS AND PLEDGES
The Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners will announce the results of the current
library construction grant round on July 7th after it completes its evaluation of 41 grant
applications. The MBLC currently has ars estimated - million in cash for grants. . it is
possible that this amount will increase in May if the State chooses to recapture some.more
money which would push the amount as high a 1million. At some point after, duly 7, we reed
to Mart developing plans and specifications for the new library, which means we have to have a
pretty good understanding that we have and/or are likely to have enough financing to proceed
with a new library. At that point, the Town will have to go through the pr curement process for a
Project Manager, whose work would begin when the architect begins preparing plan'and
specifications.
The LBC would be required to request the Board of Selectmen to approve-the remaining amount
of $93,500 from an existing authors ation for architectural services. We would reed an extra
$1831 000 in cash to finance Phase of the Architect's contract which.provides for preparation f
plans and specifications. The Friends has cash deposits and scare pledges for commitments
'toward the large library. Architectural services could start in July or August of this year. The
Architect has estimated that 8 months will be required to prepare the plans and specifications.
This work could be completed as.early as April 2006. The Town is willing to advance money if we
.want to start early on a temporary loam basis which would be paid for later from funds secured
from the sale of bonds after July 2006.
BonnieBarrett stated that she is feeling very upbeat and proud of the LBC for all the work that
 r p
has been accomplished to date, and for the progress that is being made toward seeing the new
library become a reality.
EXT MEETING. The next meeting of the LBC was scheduled for Thursday,ApHl 2e, 2005, at
7;00 PIU at the Mashp a Public Library. As theme was no further business, the meeting was
adjourned at 8-2.5 PIIS.
Respectfully submitted,
Ina G. Schl bohr
Record i n d secreta ry
i 3
