y
I
geothermal systems on the Cape. We would need to drill a test well_ if our construction bid
includes the drilling of ar test well, we would not have to submit a separate RFP for the test well
drilling.
DRAFT of PROPOSED TESTIMONY AT PUBLIC HEARING of SEDATE BILL 1841
Sheldon Gilbert stated that he had received comments from several individuals for changes to the
draft, and had made the appropriate revisions. Sheldon will send out the latest revised copy to
the committee.
REVIEW of POSSIBLE OPTIONS FOR LOCATION of TEMPORARY LIBRARY—Sheldon
Gilbert.
Sheldon reviewed again the options for temporary library locations.
Option 1. Use the green space across from the library to install temporary buildings for which we
have a cost estimate of$40,000 to$50,000 for three buildings, which would serge as a temporary
location.
Option 2. if coincidentally Mashpee Commons has available space based on tenants vacating,
they may be able to free up the space for a temporary library.
Option 3. Ma hpee School system, with declining enrollment, may be able to free up 4000
square feet of space.
One standard of preference would be to have the temporary library ars close to the existing library
as possible. However, the least cost might be the use of the public school facility. No decisions
are necessary at this point in time. We have $100,000 in our budget for the temporary library
mover and It could be anywhere from zero to$50,000 in cost, so we have a potential savings as
far as this particular activity is concerned..
CURRENT OUTLOOK FOR PENDING STATE GRANT AND STARTUP P of DEVELOPMENT
T
OF PLAINS AND SPECIFICATIONS—Sheldon Gilbert
The Town has indicated they would be willing to do temporary borrowing if we get started before
July 1 2006. The Town would temporarily borrow the funds for construction of the library
provided we have the necessary commitments in place and then would finance the$3.5 MM after
the construction to pay beck the temporary loans. The State requires that we carry put a
procurement for a Project Manager for the construction project. This requirement applies to all
government construction projects that are greater than $1,500,000. The Town will prepare the
RFP I interview the most qualified candidates, and make the selection.
OLD BUSINESS.ESS. Installation of the storage-shed is stlfl a work in progress.
NEW BUSINESS. No new business.
NEXT MEETING.
The next meeting of the Library wilding Committee was scheduled for Tuesday, May 31, 2005t
:00 PM at the ll ashpee Public Library.
As there'was no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 8 PM.
Respectfully submitted,
Ina G.
