TOWN OF AS E <br /> LIBRARY BUILDING COMMITTEE <br /> Minutes of the Meeting of Tuesday, August 16, 200 <br /> Committee Attendees: Also.Attending; <br /> Sheldon Gilbert Helene DeFoe, Library Director <br /> Bonnie Barrett Nancy Soderf ld, Friends of the Library <br /> Maureen Rounds Nancy Stafford, Library Trustee <br /> Jane Dolan <br /> Steve Cooly Absent: <br /> Dave Barton _ Diana Lannon <br /> Ed DeFoe <br /> Torn O'Neill <br /> Chairman Sheldon Gilbert called the meeting to order at 715 PM. <br /> REVIEW Of MINUTES - <br /> The minutes from the meeting of July 13, 2005 were unanimously approved by the Committee. <br /> 9.Resuft of `See Ted Run",Falmouth Road Race—David Burton <br /> Dave Burton reported that pledges in excess of 000 were raised for the library from the See <br /> Ted Faun Falmouth road race held on Sunday, August le. The fundralsing effort was more <br /> about raising an awareness of the new library project than about the amount of money pledged. <br /> Dave Burton suggested that it members of the library family have ars opportunity to thank Ted <br /> l adoiny for his efforts and wish him well, it would be greatly appreciated. <br /> . New Seabury Homeowners Annual Meeting resentatfon—David Burton <br /> Dave Burton reported that the New Seabury Homeowners annual meeting held at the New <br /> seabury Country Club was extremely well attended. Sheldon Gilbert had been invited to make <br /> an informal presentation to the group to talk about plans for the new Mashpee Library. <br /> Unfortunately, before Sheldon was introduced to rake his presentation, and before the me ti g <br /> was adjourned, the audience scattered and-about % of the attendees left. However, those who <br /> stayed for the presentation were interested and attentive, and all the collateral material that was <br /> available was distributed, including 50 copies of Fancy Stafford's first edition of the Newsletter. <br /> Dave Burton's summation of the event was that it was well worth the effort. The newsletter is <br /> available on the library website. Mane Dolan suggested that the website address be more <br /> prominently displayed to the public. <br /> t Report of Various Community Awareness schedule of Event —David Burton <br /> Dave Barton reported on the schedule of.events, in the absence of Melinda Gallant. <br /> 1, lr is r's Falx,August 20'h from 10 AM—4 PM at Mashpee Commons. This is the <br /> fourth year for the fair, and a great dead of effort has been expended far the evert. <br /> Sherry Bergeron is heading up the fair, with 35 juried artisans participating. Food stands <br /> will be available, offering Boer's lead hot dogs, Ocean Spray donating juice, other food <br /> items donated by Stop&Shop, and Polar Cave lee Cream sales will be donated to the <br /> Friends. . <br /> . Walk to Read Program—Sept. I e�Library Trustee !•-leather Lakatos is coordinating <br /> the event. They are expecting 200 participants, who will be walking from the library to the <br /> Quashnet School. Applicants will receive tee shirts, a banner will be displayed, and the <br /> thrust of the event is promotion of public awareness of the library building project. <br />
