Acquiring this land will provide permanent protection for a
portion of river front habitat, and provide a connective wildlife habitat corridor
between the two abutting parcels. Andrew McManus submitted communication
to the Finance Committee dated March 19, 2018 with respect to this regard. The
3.72 acres of existing Lopez conservation land to be swapped is exclusively
upland and contains no rare species habitat.
Motion made by Mr. McCahill to recommend approval of Article#16 as presented.
Motion seconded by Mr. Richardson.
VOTE: Unanimous. 4-0-1.
Roll Call Vote:
Mr. Richardson,yes Mr. Pettengill,yes Mr. McKelvey,yes
Mr. McCahill, yes Mrs. Furbush, abstained Opposed, none
Article #17: To amend the Zoning Bylaw re: Raze and Replace
Jon Furbush Chair of the Zoning Board of Appeals and Michael Mendoza the Building
Commissioner were in attendance to review this article which would clarify, under the bylaw, the
ability of the Zoning Board of Appeals to review and evaluate existing homes to be torn down
and rebuilt which may or may not meet the requirements of the existing Zoning Bylaws.
To obtain a Variance, the applicant must comply with three criteria which includes soil
conditions, shape and topography (only one, not all three), and that the desirable relief may be
granted without substantial detriment to the public good, and the issuance of a Variance will not
substantially derogate from the intent or purpose of such ordinance or bylaw.
