Board of Appeals Minutes -May 13, 1998 $ <br /> 8, a design of a left hand turn lane on Route 130. They have met with the DPW director, <br /> Greg Taylor, and designed the widening of Route 130 and a left hand turn lane. <br /> Mr. Kirrane said that truck parking had been recommended on the site and they have not <br /> created this. He said they would agree to whatever the Board requires to prevent parking <br /> on Route 130 but there is nothing in the zoning by-laws to require facilities for truck <br /> parking. He said they would agree to signage. <br /> Mr. Kirrane reviewed the problems with the intersection of Route 130 and Great Neck <br /> Road North and said his client was willing to contribute to the solution. <br /> Mr. Govoni stated that a new landscape plan would be required because of the changes in <br /> the site design. He read memos from Greg Taylor, DPW, and the Police Chief with no <br /> objections. Mr. Govoni said that the Fire Chief had called to be sure that the driveways <br /> conform to requirements for fire department vehicles to turn. <br /> Mr. Dorgan stated that he had concerns with the design of the passing lane on Route 130. <br /> He said a 9' lane is not wide enough and suggested that it be changed to 11'. Mr. Dorgan <br /> suggested that the engineer should check the taper to conform with MUTC Devices. <br /> Mr. Regan suggested a redesign of the island. Mr. Dorgan suggested a bike rack for the <br /> site. <br /> There was discussion of the amount to be donated to fund for improvements or study of <br /> the intersection and Mr. Kirrane said he felt $5,000 would be sufficient. <br /> Mr. Govoni determined that an $8,000 landscape bond should be posted. Mr. Dorgan <br /> said there should be a pedestrian crossing but that the DPW should select the location. <br /> Mr. Makunas moved to grant the Special Permit subject to the fallowing conditions: <br /> 1. move the drive-through window forward as far as practical <br /> 2. widen the 16' exit driveway <br /> 3. increase the taper to conform with MUTCD -Manual of Uniform Traffic Control <br /> Design <br /> 4. a guardrail to be installed the length of the passing lane <br /> 5, the applicant shall make a contribution of$5,000 towards the costs of a study or <br /> redesign of the intersection of Great Neck Road North and Route 130. <br /> i' 6. the passing lane width to be increased from 9' to 11' <br /> 7. a bicycle rack to be installed on the site <br /> 8. a revised landscaping plan to be presented for the approval of the Design Review <br /> Committee, <br /> 9. No Parking Signs to be installed on Route 130 per approval of the DPW Director, R. <br /> Gregory Taylor <br /> 10, a landscape bond of$8,000 to be posted through the Board of Appeals Office and <br /> ,I placed in an interest-bearing CD account by the Town Treasurer, <br /> l', <br />
