Maspee, Massachusetts 02649 <br /> HUMAN SERVICES COMMITTEE PUBLIC SESSION <br /> Minutes of the Meeting of Thursday, /1611 <br /> Committee Members Present: Members Absent: Also Present: <br /> James Long, vice Chairman veronica Warden, Chairman Gail Wilson, coordinator <br /> Janice Walford, Mary Scanlan John cahalane} BOS Liaison <br /> Fruth Elias Elinor Glener <br /> Gus Frederick vye Larkin <br /> CALL To ORDER <br /> Vice chairman James Long called the meeting to order at 210 PM. <br /> REVIEW of MINUTES <br /> Gus Frederick made a motion that the minutes of the 1/19/12 meeting be approved as modified. <br /> Fruth Elias seconded the motion. The motion was unanimously approved. <br /> OLD BUSINESS <br /> Review of the Human services committee objectives <br /> Gail Wilson announced that going forward, she will be limited to free counseling only for <br /> individuals with no health insurance. For those with health insurance, her activity will entail <br /> consultation and resource referrals. Ms. Wilson stated that Town Manager Joyce Mason has <br /> asked for statistics on the number of counseling cases she has handled since she began, and the <br /> last three years of referrals that have come in. <br /> The committee suggested additional changes to the Human Services Department Mission and <br /> Objectives. Gail Wilson will rework the Human Services Department Mission and objectives, and <br /> will present a reprised edition at the next Human Services committee meeting. It was noted that <br /> the original departmental mission and objectives were established in 1998. <br /> Gail Wilson reported that the Human Services Council is tallying about having different topics for <br /> discussion at their meetings. Ruth Elias stated her feeling that the public needs to be better <br /> informed about the existence of the Human services Committee, and the services that they <br /> provide to the community. <br /> NEW BUSINESS <br /> ■ rereview coordinator's Report <br /> Gail Wilson stated that the coordinator's report to the Human services committee is not the <br /> same monthly report provided to the Town Manager. The committee recommended and agreed <br /> that going forward, Gail Wilson should submit the same monthly report to both the Town Manager <br /> and the Human Services Committee, Ills. Wilson stated that she wili be adding to her report the <br /> number and the nature of all calls she receives each month. Janice Watford stated that if the <br /> monthly reports indicated the number of I ashpee residents that are availing themselves of the <br /> Human Services offered by the Mashpee Human Services department, it would reflect the true <br /> value of the department to the community, and the extent to which Human <br /> r <br /> 1 <br />
