Set Goals for the Human services Committee
Gail Wilson will review the Human Services Committee Objectives and Mission and will submit to
the Human Services Committee meeting on March 15, 2012.
Status of Local comprehensive Plan Update
Janice Walford stated that a lot of time has been spent on the comprehensive plan, and it has
gone through many drafts. Rather than continuing to postpone it, the plan should be completed.
One of the goal's of this committee should be to set timetables for meeting the goals we set in the
local comprehensive plan. Ruth Elias and Janice Walford volunteered to form a subcommittee to
look at the plan, and work on completion of the document, then present it to the Human Services
Committee. Gail Wilson offered the meeting room at the Human Services office as a meeting
place for the subcommittee.
■ Review of senator Marc R. Pacheco Letter re: the Closing of Taunton state Hospital
Gail Wilson stated that Joyce Mason had asked her to review the letter and forward her
comments to the Board of selectmen. John cahalane stated that there is the possibility of
Pocasset receiving more funding as a result of Taunton State Hospital closing down. Jim Long
asked about alternatives for patients who are displaced, and stated that we need to have
information regarding a fallback plan. Gail Wilson said that in many cases, these patients join the
ranks of the homeless.
Gail Wilson will do a follow-up to obtain more information about a fallback plan, and will email
John Cahalane with the results of her research.
Ruth Elias and Gail Wilson will coordinate the Food Pantry donation effort to be held at the
election in two weeks.
EXT MEETING
The next meeting will be held on Thursday, March 15, 2012 at :00 PIS, Mashpee Town Hall,
As there was no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 145 PIS.
Respectfully submitted,
Ina G. schlobohm
Recording Secretary
3
