3 ,
Board of Appeals Minutes - July 15 , 1992 4 .
Mr . Harvey represented the application and explained that the
Building Inspector had notified him that he would require a
Special Permit for the U.-Haul rental business . He said there
are no changes in the buildings but had brought in three
trucks stored at the site. Mr. Govoni questioned if there
was any fuel storage or- maintenance and Mr. Harvey said that
was all done in Hyannis and not at the site.
Mr . Makunas asked if the trucks were visable from the street
and Mr . Harvey replied that they were. He said they had a
10 ' , 12 ' and 17 ' truck. Mr. Hauck said there was a temporary
sign which would have to be removed and that any, planned
additional signing would have to be approved by Design
Review. Mr. Makunas asked if the temporary sign could remain
until a new sign permit was obtained and Mr. Hauck agreed.
Mr . Makunas asked Mr . Harvey to review the Special Permit for
the storage facility to make sure that he is not violating it
by storing the trucks in front. Mr. Friel reviewed the
Special Permit and said everything should be screened and he
felt trucks should be stored at rear of building and that
signage be used to advertise the business.
Mr . Govoni moved to grant the Special Permit with the
conditions that they review the original Special Permit as
far as storage of trucks in the front of the property, apply
for a sign permit and review plans with the Design Review
Committee. Mr. Makunas seconded. All agreed.
Richard W. and Edith K. Lane - Request a Special Permit under
Section 174-17 of the Zoning By-laws for permission to expand
a non-conforming structure in an R-3 zoning district on
property located at 30 Wilsons Grove (Map 118, Block 81)
Mashpee, MA.
Members sitting. J. Friel, M. Makunas , E. Govoni
William Abbott, builder, reviewed plans to add a second story
to one section of the house. Mr. Friel asked if there was
any expansion and Mr . Abbott said they were using 2' of the
deck. Two abutters, John Lynch and Al Paine, spoke in favor
of the application. Mr. Govoni questioned the final height
and Mr . Abbott said it would not exceed 241 . Mr. Hauck said
that a fire-rated wall should be constructed because of the
closeness to the lot line .
Mr . Makunas moved to grant the Special Permit. Mr. Govoni
seconded. All agreed.
