TOWN OF MASHPEE <br /> Board of Appeals <br /> Minutes <br /> Wednesday, June 24, 1992 <br /> The Mashpee Board of Appeals held a meeting on Wednesday, June 24, 1992 at <br /> 7:30 P.M. at the Mashpee Town Hall. Board members present and acting <br /> throughout were John J. Friel, Chairman; Arnold D. Mindick and Jamie Regan, <br /> Associate Members. Michael A. Makunas, Vice Chairman and Edward M. Govoni, <br /> Clerk, were present for all public hearings and stepped down from the Board <br /> for the discussion with Robert Mills. Associate Member Cheryl A. Hawver <br /> was present for the discussion. Building Inspector Douglas S. Boyd was in <br /> attendance. <br /> Alexander M. Levine - Requests a Special Permit under Section 174-25.1.9 <br /> of the Zoning By-laws for the licensing of an existing float and gangway <br /> in Jehu Pond in an R.-3 zoning district on property located at 1 Waterline <br /> North Drive (Map 120, Block 172) Mashpee, Ma. <br /> Members sitting: J. Friel, M. Makunas, E. Govoni <br /> Attorney Robert Mills represented the applicant and explained that they were <br /> seeking a permit for the continued use of a 12'x 16' float which was built <br /> in 1983. The pier has been licensed since 1980 but the float was not <br /> included. Engineer Douglas Cameron presented plans for the float and <br /> explained that it would prevent damage to the marshland. No comments were <br /> received from abutters or Town departments. <br /> Mr. Makunas moved to grant the Special Permit. Mr. Govoni seconded. All <br /> agreed. <br /> Cheapo Depot, Inc. - Requests a Special Permit under Section 174-25.E.1 <br /> and 174-43 of the Zoning By-laws for permission to operate a retail store <br /> in a C-2 zoning district on property located at 628 Main St. (Map 13, Block <br /> 47) Mashpee, MA. (Owner of record: Braintree Savings Bank) . <br /> Members sitting: J. Friel, M. Makunas, E. Govoni <br /> Attorney Richard Dyer represented the application and explained that his <br /> firm had purchased the property at auction and would be using the building <br /> for retail sales only. Mr. Friel questioned the completion of work on the <br /> parking lot and Mr. Dyer replied that the lot would be finished and lined. <br /> Bob Tavares, the contractor for Cheapo Depot, said that the contract had <br /> been signed for the parking lot work and it should be done: this week. <br /> Mr. Friel stated that the Board of Health would require a permit if any food <br /> was to be sold and that the water supply was not approved. Mr. Dyer said <br /> they would be selling goods of all description at a discount. Mr. Boyd said <br /> he had asked Mr. Tavares to meet with Greg Taylor of the D.P.W. to improve <br /> the access to the property. Mr. Boyd also wanted the Board to review the <br /> sign. Mr. Dyer said the lower level would be used for storage and the <br /> upstairs is unfinished but was designated for office space. Eleanor <br /> Zacharchuk, a resident of Pickerel Cove Road asked if any traffic signs would <br />
