TOWN OF MASHPEE
Fire and Rescue Department
99 Nathan Ellis Highway
Mashpee, Massachusetts 02649
(508)539-1454
April 9, 1991
Mr. Ron S. Jansson,
Attorney at Law
3267 Main Street
Barnstable, MA. 02630
Dear Mr. Jansson;
The purpose of this letter is to confirm our recent conversation
regarding resumption of"flea market" operations in the area of Dick and
Ellie's on Route 28 in Mashpee. In this regard, the Fire and Rescue
Department has not experienced any problems with this operation over the
past several years, and (therefore) would not anticipate any if the
operation were allowed to continue this year.
Per our discussion, my only area of concern would be the erection of
circus-type tents on the property for the purpose of protecting vendors
while selling their wares. Should your client elect to use any type of
canvas, plastic, or other material for this purpose, it must first be
submitted to and approved by the Fire Marshal for the Commonwealth of
Massachusetts. The Fire Marshal will approve said material if it meets
established guidelines for resistance to flame spread and smoke toxicity.
I also ask that your client insure that the Fire Marshal's written
approval for the use of materials as noted above be placed on file with my
office prior to using said materials. Should you require any further
information regarding this matter, please feel free to contact me at any
time.
Ro rtL. RRA.dgeway
/
Fire Ctfief'
c.c. Kevin Harrington, Executive Secretary
