Eighty-five seniors will graduate in <br /> June, and one hundred eighty-one eighth grade students are scheduled to <br /> enter grade nine in September 200 0. High school enrollment has <br /> increased by ninety-six students_ The middle school enrollment is <br /> projected to increase by eleven students'. There are presently three <br /> hundred seventy students in grades seven and eight. <br /> The following needs were recommended by the High School Council t <br /> address increased enrollment and maintain graduation requirements: <br /> 1.0 FTE English Teacher <br /> 1..0 FTE Math Teacher <br /> 1.6 FTE Science Teachers <br /> 2.0 FTE Social Studies Teachers <br /> The increase of 5.6 FTE Teachers will maintain an optimum of(25) <br /> students per class in core areas, and offer MCAS ramp-up courses to <br /> students who are in need of preparation. <br /> The reorganization process to have distinct entities between the Middle <br /> School and High School divisions was fully supported by the Council. As <br /> a result,the following proposal was presented to allow for a Middle <br /> School organization of four teams of approximately 100) students per <br /> team. The reorganization willp rovlde MCAS preparation to all of the <br /> and 8hgrade students in place of Directed Learning. <br /> 1.0 FTE English Language Arts <br /> 1.0 FTE Math <br /> 1.0 FTE Science <br /> 1.0 FTE Social Studies <br /> Due to increased enrollment, the following electives were recommended; <br /> .6 FTE Spanish <br /> ,5 FTE Computer Education <br /> .5 FTE Art <br /> 5 <br />
