Budget Discussion: <br /> High School- (continued) <br /> Additional recommendations include- <br /> 1.0 FTE Library Media Specialist <br /> 1.0 FTE Teacher Assistant—Library <br /> 1.0 FTE Guidance Director <br /> 1.0 FTE Guidance Counselor <br /> 1.0 FTE Special Education Teacher <br /> .5 FTE School-to-Work Coordinator <br /> . FTE High School Teaching Assistant <br /> It was noted that the Massachusetts School Counselor Association <br /> recommends mends 1 Guidance Counselor for every 200 students. The <br /> projection of 941 students in the academic year 2000-2001 will average <br /> 235.5 students per Guidance Counselor. <br /> The above Special Education recommendation for the SPED Teacher,, <br /> School-to-Work Coordinator, and Teaching Assistant was also requested <br /> by the Special Education Director. <br /> r <br /> Additional recommendations include the increase of the receptionist <br /> position from .5 to 1.0 FTE to allow the secretaries to complete duties. <br /> Presently,there is one secretary for the to Assistant Principals. The <br /> secretary has been both the attendance clerk and the discipline clerk. The <br /> Council has recommended separating the position into 1.0 FTE Discipline <br /> Clerk and 1.0 Attendance Clerk. <br /> LO FTE In-House Suspension Teacher is recommended to add one <br /> more tier of intervention to the present discipline levels. It was noted that <br /> some of the suspensions are dire to students not reporting to the Saturday <br /> school. This.matter will be reviewed in more detail. <br /> Lastly, Department Chairs are recommended in place of the current <br /> curricula chairs. Department Chairs are responsible for determining <br /> departmental needs, assisting the principal in developing budgets, <br /> schedules inventory, and curriculum. <br />
