School Councils FY2 o -2001 DIdget-Discussion'. <br /> Quashnet Malley School: <br /> School Principal cipal Robert Tippo recommended the following additional <br /> staff positions: <br /> .5 Guidance Secretary <br /> It was noted that one secretary is presently used between the two schools. <br /> The school population warrants the need for additional support. <br /> If the Title I grant is eliminated, the salary ofthe Title I Teacher and Title <br /> 1 Teacher Assistant may also have to he absorbed within intended the <br /> budget. <br /> Coombs School: <br /> School Principal Nick Feldman recommended the following staffing needs <br /> for fiscal year 2001: <br /> 1. FTE Grade 4 Teacher new <br /> .2 FTI .Specialist <br /> .5 FTE Remedial Reading Teacher (Grades 4-6 <br /> 1.0 FTE Remedial Reading Teacher(Grades 1-3 <br /> The current third grade enrollment is high. The additional Grade 4 <br /> Teacher will provide a class size of 20-21 students. permanent MCAS <br /> testing will begin in Grade 3 next year. <br /> Remedial math and language was also considered as an avenue to improve <br /> MCAS scores. <br /> The after-school enrichment program was recommended to be re- <br /> established in all three schools. It was noted that the participation rate is <br /> high if the parents do not have to pay a fee for enrollment. <br /> An Assistant Principal was recommended for the elementary school <br /> system. The Gifted and Talented Program Teacher was also <br /> recommended in the budget to provide students with innovative education. <br /> 4 <br />
