S <br /> Environmental Oversight Committee <br /> Minutes <br /> February 14, 2008 <br /> OLD BUSINESS: <br /> Review of Action Items: <br /> 7. Town-Wide Stormwater Management Plan: <br /> The DEP conducted a seminar regarding changes to Massachusetts <br /> Stormwater Runoff Standards. It was reported that new stormwater runoff <br /> requirements must improve existing conditions to provide for better <br /> enviromnental protection. The new requirements fall under wetlands <br /> regulations and the Conservation Commission is responsible for <br /> implementing and administering the changes. It was noted that a bylaw <br /> could be adopted by the Town adding languages that re-development must <br /> improve the site. Further information can be found on the website: <br /> www.rnass.goyidei?. <br /> Additional information was distributed regarding a recent article in the <br /> Cape Cod Times relative to the growing trend of a"Green" environment. <br /> A handout was also disseminated relative to information that can be found <br /> on the EPA website: www.epa.govlri��. <br /> At the last meeting, a draft Residential Stormwater Runoff Primer was <br /> distributed to the EOC Committee. Members of the EOC were requested <br /> to review the document and conduct an assessment to manage and control <br /> stormwater runoff at their homes. The EOC conducted the exercise. <br /> An easy to read document regarding residential Stormwater runoff was <br /> considered as a way to make homeowners more aware of their <br /> environment. The EOC was requested to give input into the proposed <br /> brochure that would assist the residential homeowner in understanding the <br /> importance of Stormwater control and management. <br />
