2 <br /> Environmental Oversight Committee <br /> Minutes <br /> March 13, 2008 <br /> Present: Chuck Green, Beverly Kane, Ted Theis,Edward Baker <br /> Absent: Don Myers, Richard York,Ralph Marcelli <br /> Meeting Called to Order by Acting Chair Chuck Green at <br /> 7:20 p.m. Town Hall, Conference Room#3 <br /> MINUTES: <br /> Thursday, October 11 2007 & Thursda Febru 14 2008: <br /> The above referenced minutes were deferred to the next meeting due to the <br /> lack of voting quorum. <br /> COMMUNICATIONS &CORRESPONDENCE: <br /> Public Comment:None at this time. <br /> NEW BUSINESS: <br /> Waterwa s Commission—Mashpee River Dredging: <br /> Representatives of the Waterways Commission were unable to attend <br /> the EOC meeting. The agenda topic was deferred to a future EOC <br /> meeting. <br /> Perry Ellis, Harbormaster was in attendance and reviewed latest aerial <br /> photographs of the Popponesset Bay and Waquoit Bay dredge channels. <br /> In the absence of the Waterways Commission, Mr. Ellis briefly discussed <br /> the intended dredge process. With regards to the Mashpee River dredging, <br /> the Town of Mashpee is presently focusing on re-establishing the inlet and <br /> the 1916 channel. The Town of Barnstable has been consulted in an effort <br /> to,solicit financial participation. At this time,the consideration to fund the <br /> permit process is being reviewed by Lindsey Counsell, Executive Director <br /> of Three Bays Preservation. <br /> As a result of the present focus, the scenario to remove part of the Spit to <br /> double the width of the entrance channel is not under consideration at this <br /> time. The dredging of Waquoit Bay was briefly reviewed. It was noted <br /> that spoils for the dredging of Waquoit Bay would be placed along the <br /> Dead Neck area. <br />
